Under Water Tricolour Unfurling Ahead of Independence Day Celebrations

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) unfurled Indian Tricolour ahead of our 75th Independence Day. However, what made it all the more special was that the hosting was under water.

Campaign ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ sole objective is to inspire the countrymen to display the tricolour at all businesses and homes. Narendra Modi government amended the ‘Flag Code of India 2002’ as well. Recently the ICG unfurled Indian flag on the occasion of the 75th Independence celebrations. Well, this time the unfurling was special. As a part of 75 years of India’s independence celebration, the Indian Coast Guard performed an underwater flag demo at Sea. What they did was Under water Tricolour unfurling. With the whole objective of creating patriotism in the minds and hearts of people, the campaign was started. The campaign used the #HarGharTiranga and @AmritMahotsav.

Hosting of Indian Flag under water

Under Water Tricolour Unfurling, Self Help Groups (SHGs) created for the production of flags

In order to support the campaign , many Self Help Groups are created for the production of flags. Local tailoring units and MSMEs have also been roped in to supply the flags in large numbers.

The Ministry of Textiles has identified producers to supply the flags in big numbers. The 22-second clip of Under water Tricolour Unfurling has received several comments since it was posted on 29 July. Many people praised the Indian Coast Guard for this endeavour. Although many have hailed the initiative, there are others who feel it is the violation of the nations flag code.
