Why Ganesha Loves Modak? Story Behind it
According to the Hindu scriptures, Lord Shiva once went to Anusuya’s home in the forest. Goddess Paarvati and Lord Ganesha also accompanied him. When they visited her house, Anusuya placed a condition. She said, she would only serve the Lord once Ganesha’s hunger was satisfied. During the meals, she served him with a single piece of sweet food. Subsequently, the Lord gave a loud burp after the sweet. As a coincident would have it, Lord Shiva also burped not once but 21 times. And from that day on, Lord is offered 21 Modaks.
