Ravi Shastri recalls his iconic commentary during Yuvraj’s six sixes of 2007 T20 World Cup

India won the T20 inaugural World Cup in 2007. Besides India’s victory, the one thing that stood out was the Yuvraj Singh carnage between India and England. Ravi Shastri while representing Bombay had hit six sixes against Baroda. Incidentally, Ravi Shastri was at the mic, when Yuvraj went for the onslaught. A verbal altercation with Andrew Flintoff was enough to charge Yuvraj up as he faced the English pacer Stuart Broad. His fury burst on Stuart as he blasted him for six sixes in an over. Ravi Shastri discussed his experience of hitting six sixes in an over and Yuvraj hitting during World Cup 2007. Former Indian head coach admitted in the episode of CRED’s The Long Game, “I can never say I was ready for what was coming next. I have hit six sixes in an over, I have broadcast while six sixes were being hit in an over, and I have coached the team through matches where we did not hit a single six in any over.” Shastri jokingly told that he did not disclose the news to even his mother, who would learn it from a Bhelpuri wala. His commentary words,” I think Yuvraj is the favourite to hit a six here,”.Ravi Shastri’s astute tracking of the expression of Yuvraj made vision made him deliver a memorable commentary.
