There were many in tears as Argentina won and the celebrations started. People watched the match in community halls and clubs where large screens were put up, the supporters erupted in ecstasy. Equally delighted were Messi fans, who scored two goals and then another in a shootout as Argentina beat France 4-2 on penalties to claim a third World Cup title.

Messi is often compared with the legend Maradona who incidentally won the FIFA for Argentina exactly thirty-six years ago. And it just could not be more surreal for the former to replicate the feat of his idol. As many partied, some just wished that Maradona were alive to witness the victory.
