BWF Thailand Open 2022: Results of Indian Women
It was a mixed day for India at the BWF Thailand Open 2022. India’s top female badminton player IPV Sindhu started her Thailand Open 2022 campaign with a win over USA’s Lauren Lam in the women’s singles category in Bangkok on Wednesday. Sindhu defeated Lauren in a tough 3 game match 21-19, 19-21, 21-18. Although the two time Olympic medalist won the first game 21-19, Lauren got back taking the next game forcing the decider. Sindhu eventually sealed the game 21-18 thus winning the match. The match lasted for 59 minutes. Malvika Bansod too won her first round match of Thailand Open 2022 with a win over Ukraine’s Marija Ulitina. However there was mixed luck as India’s two time Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal crashed out of the open. Saina lost to South Korea’s Kim Ga Eun by 21-11, 15-21, 17-21. After winning the first game easily, Saina Nehwal lost the second and third games 15-21, 17-21. Also Canada’s Michelle Li defeated India’s Aakarshi Kashyap in straight sets in the first round of women’s singles. Li did not face any challenge and won easily 21-13,21-13 in 33 minutes. In another match Ratchanok Intanon of Thaliand defeated Indian qualifier Ashmita Chaliha 21-10, 21-15 in 29 minutes first round match 10-21, 15-21

BWF Thailand Open 2022:Results of Indian Men
In men’s badminton there were mixed results.Kidambi Srikanth started his campaign with a win against Brice Leverdez of France 18-21, 21-10, 21-16. However HS Prannoy suffered a defeat against Malaysia’s Liew Daren 17-21 in the first game of the match. After winning the second game 21-15 , the Malaysian defeated Prannoy 21-15 to win the match. Also India’s top players B Sai Preneeth and Sourabh Verma made an exit in the first round. Kantaphon Wangcharoen of Thailand, defeated Praneeth 21-12, 21-13, Toma Junior Popov of France defeated Sourabh Verma 22-20,21-12 .

BWF Thailand Open 2022: Results of Doubles
In the Ashwini Bhat K and Shikha Gautam beat Thailand’s Kittipak Dubthuk and Prinda Pattanawaritthipan 21-12, 21-17 to enter the second round. However, The mixed doubles pair of B Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa suffered a first round exit, losing to the eighth-seeded Japanese duo of Yuki Kaneko and Misaki Matsutomo 17-21, 17-21 in 34 minutes. Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto also got a walkover from USA’s Mathew Fogarty and Isabel Zhong to also advance to the second round.

Thailand Open is held in Nonthaburi, Thailand from May 17th to May 22nd.The tournament is one of the super 500 series tournament.
