7 Dating Tips That Will Spice Up Your Love Life

Dating Tips That Will Spice Up Your Love Life
Dating Tips That Will Spice Up Your Love Life

Single and looking for love? While there are always obstacles to meeting the right person, these tips can help you find lasting love and build a healthy, worthwhile relationship.

Dating tip 1: Keep things in perspective

Don’t make your search for a relationship the centre of your life. Concentrate on activities you enjoy, your career, health, and relationships with family and friends. When you focus on keeping yourself happy, it will keep your life balanced and make you a more interesting person when you do meet someone special.

Tip 2: Build a genuine connection

The dating game can be nerve wracking. It’s only natural to worry about how you’ll come across and whether or not your date will like you. But no matter how shy or socially awkward you feel, you can overcome your nerves and self-consciousness and forge a great connection.

Tip 3: Put a priority on having fun

Online dating, singles events, and matchmaking services like speed dating are enjoyable for some people, but for others they can feel more like high-pressure job interviews. And whatever dating experts might tell you, there is a big difference between finding the right career and finding lasting love.

Instead of scouring dating sites or hanging out in pick-up bars, think of your time as a single person as a great opportunity to expand your social circle and participate in new events. Make having fun your focus. By pursuing activities you enjoy and putting yourself in new environments, you’ll meet new people who share similar interests and values. Even if you don’t find someone special, you will still have enjoyed yourself and maybe forged new friendships as well.

Tip 4: Handle rejection gracefully

At some point, everyone looking for love is going to have to deal with rejection—both as the person being rejected and the person doing the rejecting. It’s an inevitable part of dating, and never fatal. By staying positive and being honest with yourself and others, handling rejection can be far less intimidating. The key is to accept that rejection is an inevitable part of dating but to not spend too much time worrying about it. It’s never fatal.

Tip 5: Watch for relationship red flags

Red-flag behaviours can indicate that a relationship is not going to lead to healthy, lasting love. Trust your instincts and pay close attention to how the other person makes you feel. If you tend to feel insecure, ashamed, or undervalued, it may be time to reconsider the relationship.

Tip 6: Deal with trust issues

Mutual trust is a cornerstone of any close personal relationship. Trust doesn’t happen overnight; it develops over time as your connection with another person deepens. However, if you’re someone with trust issues—someone who’s been betrayed, traumatized, or abused in the past, or someone with an insecure attachment bond—then you may find it impossible to trust others and find lasting love.

If you have trust issues, your romantic relationships will be dominated by fear—fear of being betrayed by the other person, fear of being let down, or fear of feeling vulnerable. But it is possible to learn to trust others. By working with the right therapist or in a supportive group therapy setting, you can identify the source of your mistrust and explore ways to build richer, more fulfilling relationships.

Tip 7: Nurture your budding relationship

Finding the right person is just the beginning of the journey, not the destination. In order to move from casual dating to a committed, loving relationship, you need to nurture that new connection.

The 10 Biggest Ransomware Attacks of 2021

Ransomware Attacks of 2021
Ransomware Attacks of 2021

Ransomware refers to malicious software that, when deployed, can prevent one from using their own computer. In order to get back access to the system, one has to pay a sum of money to cyber-criminals or hackers.

Ransomware is increasingly targeting the critical industrial sectors — oil and gas, finance, healthcare, food and beverages, and transportation. Ransom attacks have increased in volume (by 37 per cent) during the ongoing pandemic, and Common Vulnerabilities and Exposure (CVE) saw a jump of over 356 per cent this year compared to 2019. SonicWall recorded an all-time high of 78.4 million ransomware attacks globally in June 2021.

Today, we take a peek at the biggest ransomware attacks of 2021 so far.

Colonial Pipeline Company

American oil pipeline system Colonial Pipeline Company suffered a major ransomware attack in May this year. The cyberattack affected its computerised equipment managing the pipeline originating from Houston, Texas, disrupting the fuel supply to most of the US East Coast for days.

Despite affecting just its IT systems, Colonial Pipeline Company shut down its entire pipeline operations to prevent further harm. With the FBI’s help, the company paid $4.4 million in bitcoin, as demanded by the hackers.

According to the FBI, the attack was carried out by DarkSide. A month after payment, the Department of Justice reported that the FBI was able to seize a portion of the payment using a private key.

Acer

Taiwanese computer giant Acer was hit by a REvil ransomware attack in March this year. The hackers demanded a whopping $50 million. They shared images of stolen files as proof of breaching Acer’s security and the consequent data leak. These included images of financial spreadsheets, bank communications, and bank balances.

According to media reports, the group got access to Acer’s network through a Microsoft Exchange vulnerability that had earlier led to the hacking of 30,000 US governmental and commercial organisations’ emails.

The ransomware gang reportedly made more than $100 million in one year from large business extortions. The same hackers were responsible for the 2020 ransomware attack on Travelex.

While the computer manufacturer never confirmed if they actually paid the ransom, it said that companies like theirs are constantly under attack and had reported abnormal situations observed to the required law enforcement and data protection authorities.

CNA Financial

Chicago-based CNA Financial Corp., one of the largest insurance companies in the USA, had noticed a breach in March this year. The ransomware attack is said to have led to the compromise of data of around 75,000 individuals. This data might have included names, health benefits information, and Social Security numbers of the company’s present and former employees, contract workers, and their dependents.

According to media reports, later in May, CNA Financial agreed to have paid $40 million to get back access to its network. Reportedly, the hackers used a malware called Phoenic Locker, a variant of Hades which Russian cybercrime syndicate Evil Corp creates.

Brenntag

Around the same time as the Colonial Pipeline Company cyberattack, hackers group DarkSide targeted Germany-headquartered chemical distribution company Brenntag. DarkSide reportedly demanded $7.5 million, or 133.65 bitcoin, for gaining access to 150 GB worth of data. Additionally, DarkSide shared a data leak page consisting of a description of the data stolen and screenshots of a couple of files to prove its claims.

The ransom was negotiated, and ultimately, Brenntag ended up paying $4.4 million.

Kia Motors

A subsidiary of Hyundai, Kia Motors, suffered ransom in February this year. Attackers DopplePaymer gang reportedly asked for $20 million for a decrypter and not leak the stolen data. As claimed by Kia Motors, the subsequent ‘IT outage’ affected the mobile UVO Link apps, payment systems, owner’s portal, phone services, and internal sites used by Kia Motors America.

While these were global attacks, India isn’t far from making headlines for cybersecurity breaches, either. If one were to go by media reports, India was most hit by ransomware attacks this year, so far. A report by Check Point research suggests that with ransomware attacks shot up by 102 per cent globally in 2021 from last year, India was the worst hit with 213 weekly ransomware attacks per organisation. Last year, Microsoft appointed a Threat Protection Intelligence Team to deal with the attacks.

Neha Goyal : From a Toxic Childhood To Indian Hockey Team

0
Neha Goyal Hockey Stick

More than a decade back, Savitri Devi enrolled the youngest of her three daughters at a hockey academy in Haryana’s Sonepat. The reason was that she could escape the “toxic” atmosphere at home.

Today, that daughter is set to make her maiden appearance for India. On the world’s biggest sporting stage — the Olympic Games. Neha Goyal, 24, is part of the 16-member Indian women’s hockey team.

Working alongside her mother and sisters at the cycle factory straightening spokes for about Rs 2,000 a month to Team India. it has been an incredible journey for the promising midfielder.

And yet, her teammates confide, she has always been “among the happy-go-lucky players in the team”. Always smiling face, no matter what the situation, is the charismatic personality of Neha Goyal.

Neha, whose father passed away a few years ago, continued helping her mother even after she started playing hockey. She never shied away from extra work. But she used to feel a little scared when her father came to the hockey ground. She used to freeze. Ultimately, I had to tell him to stay away from my academy.

At 4-feet-9, Neha most often isn’t the tallest player on the field. But in a sport that is increasingly getting physical, height is her weapon. Her runs are not spotted easily so she can get into dangerous goal-scoring positions.

Homeopathic Remedies for Allergies

Homeopathic Remedies for Allergies
Homeopathy natural treatment for Allergies

Homeopathy is another common natural treatment for Allergies – one of the more gentle forms of treatment – that is most likely to relief allergy related health problems or symptoms, food intolerances and sensitivities.

Homeopathy is based on the idea that like treats like; homeopaths generally use substances that contain a microscopic amount of a substance that would normally cause a condition, on the idea that it will actually stimulate the body’s immune system to treat the condition or symptom.

If you want to try homeopathic remedies, you best consult with a trained homeopath, to match a remedy that suits your personality, individual constitution and symptoms.

When you are suffering from allergies, sometimes trying something new is better than suffering. Alternative Allergy Treatments can relief if not eliminate allergy like symptoms. Even though it is likely that symptoms initially get worse when starting treatment, which according to homeopathic theorie is a desired ‘crisis’ on the healing path – indicating that the remedies work. However, homeopathy appears to have no side-effects whatsoever.

Homeopathic remedies helpful to people with allergies

Arsenicum album:

This remedy is useful for people who are highly sensitive to many foods and substances, and respond to them by feeling restless, ill, and exhausted. Asthma and digestive disorders (such as vomiting and diarrhea) are common reactions. Burning sensations relieved by warmth, and thirst for frequent small sips of water can also suggest this remedy. A person who needs Arsenicum tends toward strong anxiety, and may have excessive concern over neatness, details, and order.

Calcarea carbonica:

This remedy often helps with fatigue, gas, and digestive problems common to individuals with food sensitivities. Digestive troubles with gas and heartburn are common, especially after eating wheat or dairy products. Swollen lymph nodes and tonsils, head sweats during sleep, shortness of breath from exertion, back pain, dizziness, nightmares, and strong cravings for sweets are often seen. Individuals who need this remedy are sometimes oversensitive to aspirin.

Calcarea phosphorica:

Irritability, headaches, stomach and abdominal pains, and a craving for “junk food” are all indications for this remedy. Stiffness in the neck and back, leg cramps, and aggravation from cold are also likely. The person may seem dissatisfied, with a strong desire for travel or a change of circumstances and a tendency to complain when fatigue and health problems interfere. This remedy is often helpful to restless, whiny children who have growing pains, get headaches from school, and have picky appetites with many food problems.

Carbo vegetabilis:

A person who reacts to foods or substances with weakness, faintness, chilliness, and indigestion may be helped by this remedy. Bloating, flatulence, and a frequent need to burp are often seen. Breathing may be difficult and, even when feeling very cold, the person has a strong desire for fresh and moving air. Feeling insecure because of weakness, the person may be cross and demanding toward family members. Problems typically are worse in the evening and from talking, eating, or lying down.

Gelsemium:

Allergy reactions with flu-like symptoms—weakness, trembling, aching muscles, droopy-looking eyes, and chills along the spine—may indicate a need for this remedy. Headaches in the back of the head and involving the muscles of the neck are common. A person who needs this remedy may seem ill and weak with a feeling of internal shakiness. Being under pressure to perform (exams, public speaking, etc.) or hearing distressing news often makes the person worse.

Hepar sulphuris calcareum:

People who need this remedy are oversensitive to stimuli and substances of many kinds, and can be extremely irritable and touchy, often feeling worse from even slight exposure to cold or drafts. Skin problems, ear infections, or respiratory problems with yellow discharge and offensive sour or cheese-like odors are often seen. Because these people feel so deeply vulnerable, they may develop a fear of going out in public. Discouragement about their health can lead to angry outbursts or gloominess.

Ignatia:

This remedy is indicated for sensitive, emotional, defensive, idealistic people with a tendency toward mood swings and cramping pains. Cramps are often felt in the stomach and abdomen or in the neck and back. Headaches sometimes feel like a nail driven into the side of the head. A heavy feeling in the chest is often present, and the person may frequently sigh or yawn. People who need this remedy often have “paradoxical” symptoms (heartburn improved by eating onions, sore throats improved by swallowing, joint inflammations improved by touch, etc.).

Lycopodium:

Food allergy problems with heartburn, gas, and rumbling in the abdomen may indicate a need for this remedy. The person feels ravenous hunger yet quickly gets bloated from eating a very small amount. Fatigue or drowsiness develop after eating, but the person also feels weak from missing meals. Problems are typically the worst in late afternoon and evening. The person may have a craving for sweets and a preference for warm drinks.

Natrum carbonicum:

This remedy can be helpful to people who have trouble digesting and assimilating many foods and have to stay on restricted diets. Indigestion, heartburn, and ulcers can occur if offending foods are eaten. Symptoms may include excessive bloating, gas or lactose intolerance.

Milk or dairy products can lead to flatulence or sputtery diarrhea that leaves an empty feeling in the stomach. Cravings for potatoes and sweets are common; also milk, but it makes these people sick, so they usually learn to avoid it. They are sensitive to weather changes and temperatures, as well as foods, and (although they make an effort to be cheerful and considerate) often feel weak and want to be alone to rest.

Natrum muriaticum:

A person who needs this remedy can react to allergens in many ways—with headaches, mouth sores, hay fever symptoms, respiratory problems, back pain, or fatigue. Headaches may tend to be worse in late morning and early afternoon, and asthma may be worse in the early evening. Staying in the sun too long can also lead to headache or weakness. These people usually seem reserved, disliking consolation when ill or upset, yet often have deep feelings. A craving for salt and very strong thirst may help to confirm the choice of this remedy.

Nux moschata:

If a person reacts to chemical or allergen exposure with an overwhelming feeling of sleepiness—or seems dizzy, giddy, or absent-minded—this remedy should be considered. A very dry mouth, dry eyes, a feeling of weight in the chest, and numbness in the extremities are other indications. Joint pains that move from place to place and stubborn constipation are also possible.

Nux vomica:

Irritability, cramping pains, and chilliness are typical when this remedy is needed. Oversensitivity to substances can lead to many ailments—headaches, runny nose, tight breathing, heartburn, stomach problems, constipation, back pain, and insomnia. People who need this remedy are often irritable, impatient, easily angered or frustrated, and have a lot of trouble relaxing. They tend to crave stimulants, alcohol, tobacco, sweets, and strong foods, and feel worse from having them. They are also very sensitive to odors, light, and noise.

Petroleum:

A person needing this remedy can be extremely sensitive to fumes from traffic or industry, reacting with headaches, chilliness, diarrhea, and nausea with an empty feeling inside. The person may feel confused, disoriented, or anxious when exposed to toxins. Individuals who need this remedy sometimes develop eczema with inflamed and cracking skin, especially on the palms and fingertips.

Phosphorus:

People who need this remedy are usually excitable, imaginative, and sensitive to impressions, having strong anxieties and fears. They react to many foods and substances by becoming tired, “spaced-out,” and dizzy, and may have headaches, nosebleeds, respiratory problems, nausea, or diarrhea. The person feels worse from missing meals and better from eating and sleeping well. A strong desire for ice cold drinks, ice cream, and refreshing things can help to confirm the choice of Phosphorus.

Silicea (Silica):

This remedy can be helpful to individuals who have low stamina, are prone to fatigue, and are very sensitive to substances. Resistance to infection may be low and the person may have frequent colds, sore throats, and swollen lymph nodes. Fine hair and skin, weak or brittle nails, and offensive perspiration (especially on the feet) are often seen. People who need this remedy are usually nervous, shy, refined, and fragile, yet also capable and quietly stubborn internally. A strong desire for sweets, and a tendency to be energized by moderate exercise are other traits that fit this remedy.

Sulphuricum acidum:

People with intense sensitivity to fumes and environmental toxins may benefit from this remedy. The person has a frantic, hurried feeling and can be scatterbrained and forgetful. Trembling, cold sweat, and headache may also occur. Deep fatigue and a tendency toward easy bruising or bleeding are other indications for this remedy.

Is Single’s Inferno Scripted or Real?

0
Singles-Inferno
Singles-Inferno

Netflix’s ‘Single’s Inferno’ is a dating series that revolves around a group of flirty singles as they search for true love on a searing yet stunning island. They are actually stranded, which means that their only escape is date nights in “Paradise,” that is, if and when they find a connection and couple up. This show has everything from cozy moments to dramatic confessions to romantic intimacy, making it nothing short of pure entertainment. With that, though, the simple question of exactly how much of it is authentic, if at all, comes to light, so here’s what we know about it.

Is Single’s Inferno Fake or Real?

‘Single’s Inferno’ is the first variety show from a collaboration between streaming giant Netflix and South Korean cable network JTBC. They both billed it as a reality production. Thus, it seems like neither the contestants nor the commentators recite any pre-written lines for the cameras.

There are many emotions shown by them which look unreal.

Yes, considering the amount of time, money, and other resources utilized to develop such a series, there are prompts and editing manipulations. That’s only for a bit of compelling dramatic flair, nothing else.

A prime example of that is the sit-down confessionals of the singles. They open up about their feelings or particular events that transpired.

It is highly probable that a lot of these comments are merely answers to specific questions. The producers ask from behind the cameras to ensure that they capture every possible sentiment.

Another example of manipulation but not manufacturing is the different areas, games, and concepts. It looks like the whole theme is to spark natural interactions. It keeps things flowing, which is honestly essential in any series.

As for the commentators, who watch the show and give their inputs while analyzing every part of the plot. It is a given since cameras catch them making notes on their cards every now and again. It makes it very clear that their job is to merely provide honest feedback.

The panelists – Hong Jin-Kyung, Lee Da-Hee, Kyuhyun, and Hanhae – recently spoke about their entire experience and confirmed the same. Everything related to the cast is as natural as possible.

Decoupled : A sexist worldview

Decoupled Review
Decoupled Review

The show is filled with the sort of sexist drivel we routinely see in matrimonial columns and WhatsApp forwards. Thanks to Netflix, it’s now on our screens.

Decoupled-Review_01
Decoupled

Last weekend the pool of cringe TV swelled and expanded to embrace a new English-speaking Indian series because of its special mix of banality, misogyny and smug upper-class conceit.

Set in the richie-rich world of a Gurgaon gated housing complex, Decoupled, as the title suggests,  deals with a married couple trying to uncouple.

The eight-part series on Netflix is about Arya (R. Madhavan), a writer, and his wife, Shruti (Surveen Chawla), a startup founder. They have a convenient and cute arrangement. They are emotionally and physically estranged but share the same house, car, and driver, meet for dinner at restaurants and check out potential fling items at the gym together.

There are hints that he may have cheated, but the reason for their separation is never articulated clearly because Decoupled really wants us to like Arya.

Shruti and Arya are treading cautiously towards a formal break-up because they think their school-going daughter is too fragile to deal with ‘divorce’.

This is the overarching storyline of Decoupled. But its heartthrobs for Arya, a narcissist, and the series’ storyline exists only to give his worldview all the space and time it doesn’t deserve.

The series is written by journalist-author Manu Joseph, and the character of Arya draws its traits and drift from its creator. Joseph’s misogyny is quite apparent in his writings. He seems to be under the impression that only he sees, and has the gall to point out, the peculiar Indian idiocies and hypocrisies when he is just using these instances to flaunt his rather petty and sexist worldview.

Arya is a fiction writer, and it is suggested that he may have more literary merit than the reigning No. 1 author, Chetan Bhagat (who stars as himself), simply because we are told Arya uses big English words.

Given the churlish and lazy characterization of its lead character, it’s no surprise that the fake world of Decoupled is made up of caricature characters in contrived situations. There’s a creepy Bengali lefty professor and a pretentious art event, an artist-activist gay couple, overbearing neighborhood mummyjis and the wife’s hot boss. Their only purpose in life seems to be to irritate Arya.

Arya is presented as a sort of truth-talker whose words and actions serve as a running commentary on urban, rich India and its unique stupidities. Except that it all comes to us from a man beset by many phobias involving men’s peckers and underwear, but also women’s armpit hair and bowel movements.

Like random men on streets irritate Arya when they scratch their crotches, he scratches his crotchety mental crotch in public all the time, often to the discomfort of his wife and daughter.

The very first such situation presented in the series is when Arya refuses to shake hands with a young boy because boys, you know, masturbate a lot and don’t wash their hands. Similar phony scenes are concocted and presented as comical to infuse some current flavor and incite anti-national rants. But they are so trite that even my yawning got bored.

In a particularly soulless scene that made me wince, Arya uses his driver to ridicule an art event and the artist.

As the series progresses towards divorce and there is talk about Arya selling his book to Netflix, he gangs up with his `guruji’ friend who runs a yoga ashram for women. This is when sexist boy-talk takes centerstage.

In Decoupled, women seem to have some power and agency. At times it looks like they may be running the world. But there is a running commentary as well, from Arya and his pal, to run them down constantly.

Women are split into two categories — those who are attractive and have sexual potential and those who don’t. Though one group is considered worthy of male attention, neither seem to deserve even basic courtesies.

Men, on the other hand, are presented as simple creatures whose desires must take precedence over their floppy tummies and man boobs.

Though Arya is the one who does most of the whining in Decoupled, it’s the women who are complicated, always unhappy, emotionally needy. Some hot ones are also greedy, we are told.

Pretty maids, Arya explains, make married women insecure, and to prove this, we get a montage of Gurgaon maids. This is despite the fact that we had earlier met Shruti’s very attractive maid.

Decoupled is made up of the sort of sexist drivel we routinely see in matrimonial columns and WhatsApp forwards from uncles. Thanks to Netflix and Joseph, it’s now also on our screens.

Everyone likes R. Madhavan. He is a fine actor and lends more warmth and dignity to Arya’s character than it deserves. Surveen Chawla, who plays his long-suffering wife, is like an island of quiet dignity in glowing skin and dark lipstick shades.

To be fair, a man who sees through urban India’s hypocrisy and stupidity, and is congenitally wired to speak the truth, can be fun. It has also been done before. For instance, Jim Carrey’s Liar Liar and Larry David’s hugely popular Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The problem here, though, is that everything is trivialized, everyone else is dehumanized to allow Arya the wanker a free reign and make us see the world through his eyes.

Decoupled has a lot of in-jokes — at Indian authors who think they are better than Chetan Bhagat but can’t outsell him, and at Netflix for being run by women.

There is definitely a problem with Netflix India, but it has nothing to do with the fact that it is run by women. The problem is that it is run by women who are trained only in the dark arts of saas-bahu serials and Bollywood box-office. On the few occasions when they widen their horizons, all they see is an author with Chetan Bhagat’s banality and misogyny but written in slightly better English.

Anxious People: A dramedy with a twist

Netflix series ‘Anxious People’
Netflix series ‘Anxious People’

The new Netflix series ‘Anxious People’ is based on a novel by the same name. Written by Fredrik Backman, the novel is quite popular amongst the readers’ circuit. With its adaptation, the creators of the series present an engaging screenplay that works convincingly on the emotional front. It presents all of its characters with an empathetic gaze, most of whom are a result of their circumstantial situations. Their anxieties bring out occasional humour but the script makes sure that it is not making fun of the sensitive aspects of the characters for the sake of comedy.

The creators have managed to find a fine balance between its comedy and drama to never let its content become insensitive towards their inhibitions. The central situation that we witness is about a person attempting to rob a bank and being unsuccessful in their attempt. Then the rest of the plot revolves around the aftermath of this situation ultimately leading towards the reveal of the culprit. The robber-turned-kidnapper appears largely masked and thus, identifying the culprit becomes almost like a game that the story depends its mystery upon. All the people come out of the flat where this drama takes place yet none of them seems to be wearing that mask. So the later narrative manages its tension in respect of discovering the culprit.

The two people who are in charge of the investigation are two police officers (a father and a son) that are inexperienced in handling an affair such as this one. The son appears more like a pretend cop than a real one – someone who has a very little understanding of how an actual investigation is handled and thus shows his immaturity from time to time. While trying to control the situation or even the aftermath, he largely seems like an amateur. Suspecting one individual a day, then someone entirely different another day, almost on a whim of his mind without a clear direction or understanding of how to reach a conclusion of this question, he brings out the element of humour due to his inability to handle the matter at hand with the required maturity.

The comedy that we witness is largely derived from the fears and anxieties of its characters. Instead of turning those sensitivities into laughter (making a punchline out of them), the script uses them through organic situations. The awkwardness that comes across in our daily lives due to the inhibitions – the ones that are not always real but seem real due to the imaginary demons in our minds – in our own little worlds, the script of Anxious People uses them with simplicity and naturalism.

While the episodes keep a healthy amount of humour intact, the aspects behind the decisions by each of its characters make up for a highly engaging psychological drama. The heavy elements like loss, grief, instability among others come to the forefront through the interactions of the captives related to their lives besides the abduction. A bank manager trying to reconcile with a pang of guilt from the past becomes increasingly anxious in her daily routine. On the other hand, a middle-aged woman tries to uplift the spirit of her husband with low self-esteem as a way to work upon her own guilt from the past. The way these characters try to find the common ground while looking at their individual fallibilities makes up for a subtle lesson of empathy.

In one way or the other, all the characters from Anxious People try to navigate their way out of their self-inflicted wounds through a situation that miraculously connects them on a human level. The way in which all of them find the drive to help one another solely for humanistic reasons gives each of its episodes a bittersweet edge. By spanning it into six episodes of about 30-minutes each, it creates a moving dramedy without letting it get exhausting.

Aarya 2 Review: Sushmita Sen steals the show

Aarya 2 Review Sushmita Sen
Aarya 2 Review Sushmita Sen

The verdict is out – Sushmita Sen is the real and only star in the show. She looks perfect at all times. Aarya, a Hotstar Specials show delivers all eight episodes – each with a charatacter of their own.

Aarya 2 Review Sushmita Sen
Aarya-2

Series creator Ram Madhvani plays around with its tone and texture ever so slightly. Sushmita Sen’s interpretation of a tormented but tenacious woman is magnificently pitch perfect. The cinematography (Sudip Sengupta), editing (Khusboo Raj and Abhimanyu Chaudhary) and the musical score (Vishal Khurana) are all first-string.

Sushmita Sen carries on from where she left off in Season 1. With nary a false step, she delivers another exceptional performance. It’s packed with power, tempered with restraint and elevated with an instinctive feel for the workings of the mind of a harried single mother. Struggling to shrug off her past and forge a tenable future in an inimical world where it is tough to tell friend from foe.

The Plot

On her hesitant return from Australia to depose in court against her family, Aarya Sareen faces a vicious attack. That leaves her with a bullet wound. It strengthens her resolve to flee back to safety outside India. Neither her daughter Aru (Virti Vaghani) nor the subsequent turn of events allow her to beat a hasty retreat.

Season 2 of Aarya steers clear of all Bollywood excess. It adopts an even-handed storytelling style that bolsters both consistency and force. It packs a hefty punch without having to resort to superfluous means. What that does is whet our appetite for more.

The closing moments of the final episode throw the door open for another season. “Yeh kahani abhi khatam nahi hui hai (this story hasn’t ended yet),” says a man whose identity we know but whose face we do not see. “Yeh kahani toh abhi shuru hui hai (indeed, the story has just begun),” the protagonist retorts. We certainly aren’t complaining.

Season 2 is, for sure, not as high-octane nor as visceral as the first nine episodes of Aarya. It is none the worse for it. Its ambling rhythm allows room for the ambiguities inherent in the clash between personal interests and ethical questions. Even those who kill without a twinge of remorse, including the goons who unquestioningly serve their masters, aren’t heartless monsters.

Conversely, those who swear by their family, friends. And a supposed sense of fair play, including Aarya herself, think nothing of making morally questionable choices, impervious to the consequences of their acts on themselves and on their victims. Aarya is a deliciously dark and dodgy saga, but it is unwaveringly human at its core. The new season plays up to greater effect than before the psychological duality that dogs the heroine.

It reveals the fine line that separates outright lying and simply holding back the truth. Everybody in Aarya, from the seemingly humane heroine determined to protect her family at all costs. To the gruff musclemen and assassins who stop at nothing to carry out the orders of their bosses, has weaknesses.

Conclusion

Ram Madhvani treats the contradictions as they should be. He treats it without over-explaining the contradictory impulses. The compulsions of Aarya or the individuals around her who push her towards desperate measures. The show’s dramatic peaks, delivered with sustained control, are evenly spaced out. There are three crucial plot twists. First, these are centered in the main on the sly. Second, self-serving machinations of two suave patriarchs. Third, the wolves in sheep’s clothing, and their henchmen – are mined for maximum impact.

New Netflix thriller ‘Stay Close’ has a gripping plot

The English crime miniseries “Stay Close”, based on a 2012 novel by mega-selling Harlan Coben is a gripping tale of expected and unexpected sequences in life. The main player is Megan, about to be married to her boyfriend of 16 years. It is one of those past-comes-back-to-haunt-you tales in which something really bad happened years ago and sent multiple lives into a tailspin.

Other characters include Lorraine (Sarah Parish), an old friend of Megan’s; Broome (James Nesbitt), a cop obsessed with a long-cold missing person’s case; and Ray (Richard Armitage), a sort of sub-paparazzi photographer discover something bloody.

Jumbo’s performance is outstanding, her face is capable of expressing thousands of emotions simultaneously. Megan is a woman with two identities: one for a wild past, one for a fretful present. There’s a touch of Hitchcock to Megan’s split.

The webseries constructs its puzzle slowly, through subliminal editing of past violence and through the silences in what the characters don’t say to each other.

Cybersecurity 2022: Frauds, Fakes and Crypto Scams

Cybersecurity 2022
Cybersecurity 2022

Cybersecurity in 2022 is more challenging than earlier years. As 2021 winds down, it’s time for cybersecurity experts to toss their runes and forecast what’s in store for consumers and practitioners in the coming year. Many experts believe that cybercriminals will move from identity theft to identity fraud

Bad actors are accumulating personal identifying information, but they’re not using it to target consumers as much as they used to do. Rather, they’re using it in credential attacks on businesses.

Cybersecurity_02
Cybersecurity in 2022

It is likely that many consumers will withdraw from certain kinds of online activity. The continued improvement in ease and quality of phishing attacks will force some consumers to rethink online purchases and change communication habits for fear of falling prey to perfectly spoofed emails, websites or text messages. Some people are likely to disengage entirely from emails because they believe the risk is too great.

It is also predicted that malware will level off as a root cause of data breaches in the coming year and revictimization rates will grow.

Consumers victimized by online fraudsters multiple times continued to grow in 2021 and that trend will continue in 2022. Single incidents that target multiple individuals or organizations will impact greater numbers of victims across communities and geographic areas. Social media account takeover, in particular, will leverage the followers and individual networks to create new chains of victims.

Another attractive area for digital bandits in the coming year will be cryptocurrency scams, according to Lookout, a San Francisco-based provider of mobile phishing solutions.

As cryptocurrency accounts are not government-insured like U.S. dollars, and cryptocurrency payments are not reversible, the risk to consumers is particularly high.

Cybersecurity_01
IT environment

Another development in 2022 will be the greater use of home networks as infrastructure for hackers. A home network is much easier to infect with malicious software than a professionally secured enterprise IT environment. With processing power and bandwidth connectivity in residences increasing, home networks will become more attractive to bad actors.

On the enterprise level in 2022, securing hybrid clouds will become a C-suite imperative.

He also predicted that Zero Trust networks — which require continuous authentication and monitoring of network behavior — will saturate hybrid cloud security infrastructures.

The tradition of having a single identity or security administrator is rapidly diminishing. No longer will anyone be able to say security ‘is not my job.’ Developers, in particular, will have to wear multiple hats as the tech skills shortage intensifies.

7 Qualities That Make A Romantic Person

0
7 Qualities That Make A Romantic Person
7 Qualities That Make A Romantic Person

Affectionate

First and foremost, a romantic person is willing to regularly show how much they love and adore the object of their affection. They might regularly offer small displays of affection, whether that’s through acts of service, words of affirmation, or other sweet gestures.

“Whether you bring your partner a love-filled cup of coffee each morning, lather each other’s backs in the shower, or enjoy holding hands as you walk, true romance is all about showing your love for each other in consistent, meaningful ways,” Manly says. “Consistent displays of meaningful attention (whether it’s kissing, small token gifts, touch, or whispering ‘sweet nothings’) can keep a romantic mood alive every day.”

Thoughtful

“The most romantic of partners are those who are mindful of their significant other’s needs and desires in passionate, thoughtful ways,” Manly says. “The most important habit shift to make if trying to become more romantic is attentiveness. If you become tuned in to what your partner wants and needs, you can craft spontaneous surprises and long-term romantic patterns that will eternally thrill your partner.”

Dedicated

Importantly, a romantic person doesn’t just offer a bunch of gifts and sweet nothings with no real meaning behind them. A huge part of what makes someone or something romantic is the idea that the love and passion they offer is unwavering and enduring, and it’s uniquely offered to a specific person. That’s what separates a romantic person from a flirt: the intensity, longevity, and specificity of their feelings.

That’s why the most romantic speeches or love letters, for example, are often highly personalised: “For a longtime love, you want to talk about memories, overcoming obstacles together, what made you fall in love initially, why you still love them today, and what you see in the future,” Lia Miller, M.A., MPA, MSW, a writer and clinically trained social worker, writes at mbg.

A tendency for big gestures

The original concept of romance came from stories of the chivalrous deeds of knights willing to lay down their lives for love. In modern times, dramatic gestures are still associated with the idea of romance: traveling long distances to surprise the person you love, proposing in front of a big crowd of people, or even simply talking about your future together early on in a relationship.

Sentimental

Romantic people might also specifically describe their love for someone in highly sentimental, cosmic, or larger-than-life terms, such as describing their lovers as “soul mates,” talking about how fate brought them together, or declaring that their love will last them to the grave and beyond. They may have a tendency to idealize their partner or their relationship as well, which may not exactly be a healthy tendency, despite the romanticism of it.

Present

On the flip side, not everyone will consider sweeping gestures and over-the-top declaration of love to be romantic. Sometimes being a romantic person is simply about being highly present, warm, and affectionate with your partner in the day-to-day moments.

“Meaningful gifts and memorable trips are touching, standout moments in a relationship,” marriage therapist Linda Carroll, LMFT, writes at mbg. “However, it’s the steady sprinkle of smaller moments of kindness and care that create a trusting and healthy relationship.”

Consistent

Being a romantic person means setting a tone of affectionate love and passion year-round, not just on special occasions like Valentine’s Day or someone’s birthday, Manly points out.

“A true romantic partner tends to ‘date’ [their] significant other throughout the relationship rather than devoting romantic energy to only one or two hallmark dates per month or year,” she explains. “Being a true romantic is a way of life.”

Dark Desire or Oscuro Deseo in Spanish regions was one of the dark horse releases of 2020 on Netflix in 2020. It turned out to be the most-watched debut season of a non-English show in Netflix’s history. Eighteen episodes of the thrilling drama series arrived on Netflix on July 15th, 2020.

The series was the sixth most watched title on Netflix around the world in July 2020

Now, season 2 is just around the corner arriving on Netflix globally in February 2022. The series has performed best in Spanish-speaking countries.

We also got some official stats for how well the series performed alongside the season 2 announcement. Entertainment experts say that it was the biggest non-English debut season of a show since Elite which had 20 million households watch in the first 28 days back in 2018.

Has Dark Desire been renewed for season 2?

After around a month, Netflix officially gave the nod to a second season while also releasing viewing stats for season 1 confirming the hit we knew the series was.

For anyone that saw the series, you would’ve no doubt suspected a second season given the dramatic ending of show’s debut season.

The renewal also came with a Spanish tease for season 2 with some of the cast members appearing.

The big story threads that need answers heading into a second season include who actually killed Brenda (or did she really commit suicide), and what Dario will now do after surviving the factory fire and announcing his love?

From the season 2 announcement, we know that Maite Perroni, Alejandro Speitzer, Erik Hayser, Jorge Poza, Regina Pavón and María Fernanda Yepes will all return to their roles for season 2. They also confirmed that new characters would join the second season.

Karnam Malleswari is a true legend in the Indian women weightlifting circuit. She has brought many laurels to the country with her breathtaking performances. Not just world weightlifting championship, but Karnam Malleswari created history when she won the Bronze at 2000 Sydney Olympics.

A girl was born in a small village of Andhra Pradesh. She started weightlifting at the age of twelve. Backed by the support of her family,  this girl moved to Delhi. Later she was spotted by the Sports Authority of India. After so many years of hardwork and perseverance, this girl became a world championship winner in 54kg class. In 2000  Sydney Olympics she won the bronze medal and became the first Indian Woman to win an Olympic medal. Karnam Malleswari is the first and the only Indian weight lifter to win an Olympic medal. But she is hardly remembered by either the sports fraternity or sports lovers of India. Karnam Malleswari, whose unbelievable feat in Sydney Olympics is still the most memorable chapter in the history of Indian sports.

Karnam Malleshwari – PERSONAL LIFE:

Karnam Malleswari was born in a small village voosavanipeta in Andhra Pradesh. She has four sisters and all are trained in weightlifting. She started training under Coach Nallamshetty Appanna at the age of twelve. Karnam Malleswari moved to Delhi with her sister and later spotted by the sports Authority of India. In 1990,  she joined the national camp. In 1994, she won the world title in 54kg division and from here her success story begins. She won the world weightlifting championship title in China in the year 1995 with a record lift off 113 kg. For which she won the Rajiv Gandhi khel ratna award. She managed a great victory in 2000 Sydney Olympics in women’s 69 kg division where she won a bronze medal. It was a lasting memory for her as well as for the nation as she was the first female medal winner in Olympics.

Karnam Malleswari – Inspiration for all:

She became a household name after her incredible victories. As it has been 17 years since she achieved the feat, unfortunately  people hardly remember her now. She expresses disappointment about how her country has chosen to ignore her historic achievements.

“The public should explain why they are so crazy about a game like cricket, where there is cheating and match-fixing, but have no interest in an Olympic medal. I feel bad — this is such a big achievement but there is no recognition. I am happy, though, because I have a good family life and that is enough. I tell myself that every individual has a duty to their country. I did what I could for my country as an Indian”.  said Malleswari.

She is an inspiration for all of us. She didn’t let anything prevent her from chasing her dreams. We should salute this lady for the passion she has for sports and for her unwavering determination. She is a living legend who wrote a golden chapter in India’s sports.

5 Top Homeopathic Cold Remedies

Homeopathic Cold Remedies
Homeopathic Cold Remedies

These homeopathic cold remedies zone in on your specific symptoms to assist your body in its fight against the cold virus.

The common cold, argh! It can incapacitate you from one to three weeks. It’s highly contagious through airborne particles, or through contact with objects from an already infected person. If your cold goes untreated and you are very ill, it can transform into pneumonia, bronchitis, or other serious respiratory issues—especially if you’re already vulnerable to them. So what can you do to help speed recovery and prevent a cold from turning into something worse?

Consider safe, effective homeopathic remedies for colds before you reach for over-the-counter decongestants. There have been two double-blind studies for treating colds with homeopathic remedies. In both, the results showed that patients who took the homeopathic remedy recovered faster, had fewer symptoms, and did not need to take prescription medication. The patients recovered quickly and didn’t experience any of the irritating, lingering, and sometimes dangerous side effects of conventional cold remedies.

Here are five of the most frequently used homeopathic remedies for colds:

1. Eupatorium perfoliatum

This remedy is indicated for colds accompanied by sore bones and hoarseness, along with sneezing, a runny nose, or a dry, stuffed-up nose. Hoarseness may be accompanied by a dry sore throat, and patients will often lose their voice. The chest becomes sore, especially behind the sternum. There is a hoarse cough, with a tickling in the larynx; the cough will be worse while lying on your back. It may hurt to inhale; the bronchi will feel raw and hot.

2. Sabadilla officinalis

This remedy has an amazing effect on the mucous membranes of the nose. It is great for allergies, hay fever, and colds. Indicated for colds characterized by lots of sneezing with copious watery discharge, which worsens from pollen or the smell of flowers. Itchy nose feels like a tickling inside. It may feel like there is a lump in the throat, with a constant need to swallow.

3. Allium cepa

Derived from onions, this remedy works best for people who feel worse in a warm room or in dampness, and better in the open air. Typical symptoms include watery discharges from the nose and eyes that can burn the skin, and sensitivity to the smell of flowers. Inhaling a cut onion will give you a good idea as to what these symptoms feel like. So the idea that diluted onion extracts can remedy these symptoms is a perfect example of the homeopathic principle of “like cures like.”

Allium cepa, derived from onions, works best for people who feel worse in a warm room or in dampness, and better in the open air.

4. Euphrasia officinalis

This remedy works best on colds or allergies that mostly affect the eyes. Symptoms include thick, yellowish discharge from the eyes and burning pains in the eyes that worsen in bright light. The nose runs copiously during the day, but is stuffed up at night. Coughing is caused by irritation in the larynx and produces phlegm.

5. Pulsatilla nigricans

This remedy is indicated when mucus discharges are profuse, bland, thick, and yellowish-green. The patient may have a dry cough in the evening that worsens when lying down. If the cold is accompanied by an ear infection, it will worsen at night and produce yellowish-green discharge. The eyes can have yellowish-green, thick discharge as well.

There are many more homeopathic remedies available tied to many more specific sets of symptoms—and therefore to each individual person. If you can’t find the right fit with the ones listed above, contact a qualified homeopath to find the one that’s best for you.

How To Fix Inaccessible Boot Device Error On Windows 10 Or Windows 11 PC

0
Fix Inaccessible Boot Device
Fix Inaccessible Boot Device

If your PC is not booting and showing an “Inaccessible Boot Device” error, then here is a fix to resolve this issue and make your PC function normally. The inaccessible boot device is a common error found on PCs and laptops running on Windows 10 or Windows 11 OS.

The Inaccessible Boot Device mainly occurs on computers based on Intel CPU. The reason behind this error message is the fact that your CPU won/t be able to read or access the storage device. This stops your PC from booting into the operating system.

Create A Bootable USB Device With OS Of Your Choice Do note that, you also need a fresh version of the Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating system to restore your PC. So, you also need another laptop. Download the latest version of Windows 10 or Windows 11 OS and create a bootable USB device using tools like Rufus. Download And Extra Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) Driver Then take another pen drive or an SSD and download the latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) Driver from the OEM website using your secondary computer. Do note that, the driver is device-specific and software-specific, so make sure to download the right version. This will download a small executable file. Click on the file and then click Next and accept the agreement. Now in the next menu, do not select install, instead select extract and remember the path where the software has been extracted.

Now, go to the extracted path, where you will find a folder named DRIVER, open the folder and select all the files, and copy. Come to your new pen drive or hard disk and create a new folder named USB and copy all the files from the driver folder.   Once you are ready with the two storage devices, a bootable pen drive with software and another storage device with Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) Driver, go to your broken laptop. Plugin both devices and boot into BOIS by pressing the F2 or delete button as soon as the device starts to boot.Select Bootable Device From BIOS From the BOIS menu, select the bootable pen drive as your boot device, save and exit from the BOIS. This will load the Windows installation windows. Select your language and agree to the terms and conditions. Then you might notice that your internal SSD might not be visible on the installation Windows. At the bottom menu, click on the load driver option, and then select the USB folder that contains Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) Driver. This will install the driver, and your internal storage devices will appear. Now, you need to format the SSD and clean install the OS and your device will start to boot normally. If you are installing Windows 10 OS, then you can get into your operating system. However, if you just installed a Windows 11 OS, then you also need an internet connection to complete the setup process. Given you have completely wiped your PC, there is a high possibility that your PC might not have Wi-Fi drivers. You can follow this method to complete your Windows 11 OS installation without the Wi-Fi driver. Once you are done with the installation, you can go to Settings > Windows update to install all the missing drivers and software patches. Your PC might restart a couple of times. In 30 minutes to 45 minutes, your PC will be in a fully working condition, and you have successfully fixed the Inaccessible Boot Device Error.

Smartphone Is Affected By Virus

In the internet era that we live in, all our gadgets are susceptible to be affected by viruses. There are cynical codes that make use of malicious software to access the sensitive information stored on computers and smartphones and make money out of the same. They sell these details on the dark web and generate revenue.

Like computers, smartphones are also susceptible to these viruses. Usually, the malicious software comes in the form of apps, ads and more. Hackers lock devices and encrypt personal information using ransomware.

How to set up a record player

How to set up a record player

Setting up a new turntable is an enormously fun project to get stuck into. And, it’s really not as tricky as you may have thought, whether you’ve just bought one of the best record players available today (and all the modern trappings they come with), or you want to revamp an older model that needs a little TLC.

Many modern turntables come with all manner of nifty features, including Bluetooth connectivity for pairing with wireless headphones and speakers, and even USB outputs for ripping your vinyl to your computer.

Aside from these extra mod cons, all turntables feature intricate, moving parts – and that can be a little daunting. That’s why we’ve put together this easy guide on the best way to set up a turntable.

It’s worth noting that many cheaper modern turntables come pre-assembled, so you should be ready to play your music straight out of the box; however, the further up the price band you go, the more likely it is that you’ll have to set up your new turntable yourself.

For the purposes of this guide, we’ve assumed that you need to assemble your new record player from scratch – and don’t worry, it’s not as fiddly as it looks.

Whether you need to assemble your turntable or not, it’s a good idea to become familiar with the different parts of the record player.

Plinth

The plinth or ‘support’ is the base of the turntable. As well as providing a base for everything to sit on, the plinth is designed to dampen or absorb vibrations that negatively affect the sound quality of the turntable.

It’s important that the plinth is sat on a completely level surface, as you’ll need to balance your tonearm when it comes to setting up the turntable and a sloped surface can throw it off kilter. Some turntables come with adjustable feet for this reason.

Platter

The platter is the circular part of the turntable that spins and where you put your record. Most platters come with a mat made of rubber or felt to reduce vibration and protect your precious vinyl.

Belt drive

The two most commonly used types of turntables are belt driven turntables, and direct drive turntables. The latter are usually used by DJs who need to be able to ‘scratch’ and play their records backwards, while belt-driven turntables are normally used for home listening.

Tonearm

The tonearm is the part of the turntable that guides the stylus (also known as the needle) through the grooves on the vinyl. It needs to be carefully balanced to ensure the stylus sits correctly in the groove without veering towards either side.

Cartridge

The cartridge attaches to the end of the tonearm and contains the stylus, which sits in the microgrooves of the record. As the platter spins the record, vibrations travel through the stylus and into the cartridge, where coils in a magnetic field convert the kinetic energy from these vibrations into an electrical signal.

The stylus is usually made from a tiny piece of diamond attached to a flexible metal strip, although materials like ruby, sapphire, boron, and even cotton fibre can be used as well.

Pre-amplifier

The pre-amplifier (also known as the phonostage) amplifies the electrical signals from the cartridge, boosting the signal so that you hear music when it finally reaches the speakers. Many consumer record players come with an amplifier built in, but high-spec, audiophile turntables usually require an external pre-amplifier to be connected via RCA cables.

Setting up your record player

Firstly, you’ll need to connect the different parts of your turntable setup together. If you are using an external pre-amplifier, you’ll need to plug it into the turntable’s output port using an RCA cable.

If the preamp comes built into the turntable, you’ll be able to plug your speakers into the back directly. Check out our roundup of the best stereo speakers if you need some inspiration.

What kind of data are your apps pulling?

0
what kind of data your app pulling
Things to be kept in mind for privacy

Raise your hand if you’re among those who see a cool app, you want to download it and you just add it to your phone without looking at anything else like what information is it getting? What data is it accessing? Now, to be clear, the stores for Apple and for Android spell out a lot of those details. So, if you want to get a sense of what kind of data are these apps looking at when you install an app, it’s right there before you even do that.

I will give you a prompt on your iPhone or Android, it’ll basically say how do you want this app to use your location? It might say only use it when I’m using the app or always have it on. So, that happens a lot. Again, some apps will say the app will work better if it’s always on, but for yourself you’re thinking, “I only need the location on when I’m using the app, I don’t need it any other time.” So, that’s something to check.

The best way to check that is to go into your settings and just double-check and see what kind of permissions you’re allowing for an app. For Android, you’ll go to settings, you’ll go to apps and then you’ll select the app that you’re focused on, then you’ll tap permissions. Then in there, you’ll see what the app has access to.

Same thing for iPhone. You’ll go to settings, then privacy, select the category, it’s broken down by photos or microphone or camera. Then for each category, you’ll see the list of apps that’ll request the permission, and then you can toggle whether you want it on or off.

Same for location too. When you see location, pick that and you’ll see what apps can use your location, and then you can drill down and figure out how much you want to give them. Do you want to do it only while you’re using the app? Do you want it to be on all the time or do you just not want to use your location at all?

So, that’s something to keep in mind if you’re worried about your privacy.

How to set up a new iPhone

If you’ve been lucky enough to receive a shiny new iPhone, you’re in for a treat. Whether it’s the ultra-premium iPhone 13 Pro Max, the affordable iPhone SE (2020), or anything in between, there’s a lot to like, from their slick software and wealth of apps, to class-leading performance and capable cameras.

But if you’re new to the ecosystem, or it’s been a while since you switched devices, there can also be a fair amount to learn as part of the initial setup process.

Luckily for you, we’ve put together this guide to not only getting your new phone ready for use, but transferring settings from your existing device too. Let’s get started.

Back up your current iPhone

First thing’s first – securing your personal data, photos, and anything else on your current iPhone (if you have one).

You can do this in one of two ways. You can plug your iPhone into a PC or Mac, or back up via iCloud, but if you’re using a computer you’ll need your iPhone’s passcode handy, as you’ll be asked to “Trust” the computer at various steps of the process.

On a PC, you’ll need to use iTunes. Plug your iPhone into your computer and then open iTunes and look for the small icon of an iPhone near to the top left of the window. Click it, click ‘Summary’, and then click ‘Back Up Now’.

On a Mac, back-up is no longer tied to iTunes. Once your device is plugged in, open the Finder sidebar, select your iPhone, and then click ‘General’. Next, select ‘Back up all of the data on your iPhone to this Mac’, and then choose ‘Back Up Now’.

Backing up via iCloud is arguably the simplest method since it can be done from your device. While connected to Wi-Fi, open Settings and select your name, then iCloud.

Under iCloud Backup, ensure the backup box is ticked, and then tap ‘Back Up Now’ to begin a current back up. Once done, your phone will display the last successful backup.

Restore the backup on your new device

Whichever method you used, restoring from a backup is a simple process and it’s part of the initial iPhone setup process.

Once your device is powered on for the first time (or after you’ve reset it), you’ll be greeted by the “Hello” screen. Be sure to set up a Wi-Fi connection in these early steps.

Once you get to the “Apps and Data” section, you’ll be able to choose whether you’ll be restoring from your Mac or PC, or from an iCloud backup.

For iCloud backups, simply log in with your Apple ID and select the backup you would like to restore from (if you have more than one, be sure to check the date, especially if you’re after the most recent).

Once you’ve selected a backup, the restore will then start. You may be required to update, in which case the device will prompt you to update iOS. You may also have to sign in with your Apple ID again to restore apps and purchases, so keep an eye on the progress.

If you’re restoring from Mac or PC, just plug your phone into the device you previously backed up your old device from, then select your phone in iTunes (Windows) or Finder (macOS), and press ‘Restore Backup’. If there are multiple backups available then you’ll also have to choose which one to restore from.

Restoring can take some time, but doing so will bring all of your content across seamlessly. Your device will restart at the end of the process.

Switch from Android to iPhone

Believe it or not, it’s easier than ever to switch from an Android device to an Apple one these days.

That’s because Apple released an app on Google’s app store dubbed ‘Move to iOS’ – and it does exactly what it says on the tin.

For more on transferring from Google’s platform to Apple’s, be sure to follow our handy guide.

How to switch from Android to iPhone

Prepare your old iPhone for resale or regifting

Handing down your older iPhone to a friend or relative, or looking to sell it to make some cash?

Apple’s devices tend to hold their value for quite some time, making them perfect for selling once you’ve moved on (particularly when they’re in good condition, underlining the importance of a case).

It’s easy to wipe your device clean, removing all of your personal data – just be sure to transfer all of your information first, or just back it all up (using our guide at the top of this very page).

On the iPhone that you’re selling/gifting, head into settings, tap your name and then select ‘Sign Out’. You’ll need your Apple ID password, and then you can tap ‘Turn Off’.

Doing so will log your Apple ID out and remove your ability to track the device using Find My iPhone.

Now, head back into settings, hit ‘General’, ‘Transfer or Reset iPhone’, and then ‘Erase All Content and Settings’. Enter your passcode, and your phone will be reset to factory settings.

How to clean up your smartphone

Is your Android smartphone giving troubles? Is it running sluggishly or just being randomly a bit weird. It may be because you have a problem with malware, or a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP).

So what’s the best way to check for any malware on your device?

It’s simple. Grab yourself an anti-malware tool and it won’t take long to install the app, get it going and run a scan. Here is your how-to guide –

1. Get yourself a good anti-malware app

First things first, you’ll need a specialist piece of software. In order to root out and destroy any malware which might have infected your smartphone – malware detection and removal is not something that can be done manually.

If you already have an anti-malware app installed, then all well and good, of course you can use that. However, if not, then you obviously want to use one of the top tools available.

Note that before you install your new tool, you may wish to back up your phone. Post that embark on a seek and destroy mission for malware if you haven’t done so recently. This is something you should do on a regular basis anyway.

2. Malwarebytes setup

Upon first running the app, you’ll need to tap the ‘Get Started’ button, then give Malwarebytes the necessary permissions. It needs to be able to scan your phone’s storage and system.

Press ‘Give Permission’ to do so, then tap ‘Allow’. Following that you’ll see a screen which explains that you’re on a Premium trial for 30-days. After that period elapses, you will revert to the basic free app (which has much less functionality: all you get with the freebie is on-demand scanning for malware, that’s it). If you wish, you can upgrade to a paid membership here by tapping ‘Buy Premium now.’

3. Scan for malware

You can now press the blue ‘Scan your device’ button. Although if you hit ‘Skip’ on the trial screen, or opted to subscribe to Premium from it then you can initiate a scan from the main menu of the app. Just tap the big green button labeled ‘Scan Now’ in the middle of the screen.

4. Scan in progress

The malware scan will run and may take some time. It’ll flash the various different applications and files being checked at the bottom of the screen. Progress bar above shows how far through the process is.

While an initial scan may take five to ten minutes, future scans will typically take less than a minute.

5. Scan results

When the scan is finished, Malware bytes will display the results in full. It also includes anything suspicious which the app has detected.

At this point, the application may have found nothing, and in that case your smartphone has a clean bill of health – you don’t need to do anything else.

If something dodgy-looking has been picked up by Malware bytes, however, then you’ll need to deal with it…

6. Threat found

If there is something nasty or at least possibly malicious or undesirable on your smartphone, it’ll be marked as either a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) or an outright piece of malware.

If it’s the latter, then you can choose to remove it immediately. This you’ll doubtless want to do – unless you know that the file is legitimate. In this case, you can choose to ignore the app’s warning. Occasionally, genuine files can be mistakenly identified as malware, which is known as a ‘false positive’. Choose ‘Ignore Always’ and that tells the app to leave the file alone and never flag it again in scans.

With a PUP, which could be something moderately unpleasant like adware, you have the same choice to remove or ignore it. You also have a feature ‘Ignore Once’. This will let it slide this time, but it’ll get highlighted again in your next malware scan. The latter option is there to give you a bit of time to look up the Potentially Unwanted Program and see if it really does seem dangerous, or whether it’s something you can safely leave alone.

Remember, these are only ‘potentially’ unwanted entities. So there’s more chance that something in this category is relatively harmless (compared to malware which is surely going to be damaging, unless it’s a false positive as mentioned). That said, if you’re not sure about something, being overly cautious is generally the best policy. So, err on the side of getting rid.

7. All done – but watch out for ‘critical issues’ too

When you head to the main menu/dashboard after your scan is complete. You’ve taken necessary actions with any threats that are found. The app will also warn you here if, infections aside, there are any other critical issues (or non-critical ones for that matter) with your device. In our case, there was one, namely that the ‘draw over other apps’ permission was not switched on. We had to enable it in order to show remediation instructions with the app’s anti-ransomware protection. You can fix any individual issues by pressing the blue buttons which appear with the explanations of these problems. Else, you can solve them all in one go by tapping on the red ‘Fix now’ button (there’s a box to ‘Ignore all non-critical issues’ to leave these out of the equation if you tick it, as well).

How to build the ultimate photo backup for Adobe Lightroom or Google Photos

photo backup for Adobe Lightroom or Google Photos

It’s the job that photographers and videographers put off the most. It’s a task creating a secure backup system for all their photos and videos. But whether you’re a pro with a bulging Adobe Lightroom library or a hobbyist who relies on Google Photos, creating a photo backup is a New Year’s resolution that’s well worth making in 2022 –  and our in-depth guide is here to show you how to do it.

There’s a long list of things that can go wrong with your photo and video files – fire, theft, accidental damage and deletion, to name a few. But these will all become worries of the past. Just follow what’s widely considered as the gold standard for all kinds of visual creator: the 3-2-1 backup strategy.

Back Up Strategy for Adobe Lightroom or Google Photos

We are giving you an easy-to-follow guide to this foolproof backup strategy. We’re also going to explain everything you need to know about the different hard-drive types available for large backups. No fluff, just the information creatives need to make informed decisions about the solution that best meets their needs. If you use Adobe Lightroom or Google Photos, works well.

Back Up Strategy

To help you make the best buying decisions possible; we’ve picked out some of the best large capacity, RAID and network-attached hard-drive options. Our favorite is cloud backup services. This will help you effortlessly pick the best option for you. Even if you’re on a tight budget or looking for the ultimate in professional performance. So, sit back, relax, and start the New work with a photo backup strategy. It will change your photography workflow for the better.

3-2-1 Strategy

The idea behind the 3-2-1 backup strategy is pretty simple. It states that you should have three copies of your images, videos and data. Keep two on local hard drives (for example, your computer and an external hard drive), and a third off-site, usually with a cloud storage provider.

In a nutshell, this means that if your computer hard drive fails, you still have your second local backup. In the case of fire or a theft where you lose your computer equipment, you still have your cloud backup. It can be restored from there.

Also, no cloud storage provider is immune to outages. So while cloud backups are an essential part of the 3-2-1 strategy, you’ll still have your local backup available should your provider suffer an outage. Whether you’re a working professional or a keen amateur photographer, the 3-2-1 strategy is a no-brainer. It means that you’re highly unlikely to ever lose access to your images and data.

Backing up your raw and editing files is obvious. You’ll need to backup your Adobe Lightroom catalogue too, because this is where all of your edits are saved. If you use Google Photos as your main image storage, this can also be combined into the 3-2-1 strategy. Just keep a local backup on an external hard drive. We’ve highlighted some of the best examples of those in our ‘best local photo backups’ section below. If you already have one you can skip down to the ‘How to back up Google Photos to a hard drive’ section using the menu on the left.

Disk Types

RAID – Redundant Array of Independent Disks

It is a system present in some hard drives and NAS (Network Attached Storage) drives. These drives use two or more HDDs or SSDs. It provides performance increase when accessing data, or to provide redundancy in the case of disk failure.

The main three RAID configurations that apply to photographers and videographers are RAID 0, RAID 1 and JBOD (or ‘Just a Bunch of Disks’). RAID 0 is where data is written across multiple disk drives, which increases performance. There’s no redundancy if one of the drives fail since the data is written across multiple drives,

DAS and NAS

There are many hard drive options available these days catering to a wide range of use cases. The two main options you’ll come across are DAS (Direct Attached Storage) and NAS (Networked Attached Storage).

A DAS hard drive is simply a standard hard drive. It connects to your computer via a USB or Thunderbolt cable. A NAS drive is plugged into a Wi-Fi router for connection over a home network. It also has the ability to connect to the drive when you’re away from home or the office.

NAS drives for photo storage are much more suited to professional photographers and Lightroom users who need to access their image library remotely. Amateurs and those who use Google Photos as their primary backup solution are good with any options. NAS drives also provide the ability to use different RAID configurations. It simply houses multiple drives to hold data if you don’t require redundancy.

One lesser-known connection available with NAS drives is to use them as a DAS drive by connecting them directly to your computer with an Ethernet cable. This provides blisteringly fast transfer speeds. It works better when combined with a RAID 1 configuration. It is a fantastic way to ensure redundancy.

Food Consumption Trends That Will Transform The Way Indians Eat in 2022

Food Consumption Trends 2022
Food Consumption Trends 2022

A lot of things have changed since the Covid-19 pandemic, which includes the way people eat their food and general consumption patterns. India is at the cusp of a new food revolution. Health-conscious, evolved consumers prefer to have something on their plates that will have a lower environmental footprint. In addition, they have also become more conscious than ever of the ecosystem, apart from their own health. A food tradition that focuses on sustainable alternatives is setting the path for the future of food in India.

Trends to drive the food industry:

Mindful Diet:

Dietary trends and consumption patterns of Indian customers have evolved over the years. From 1961 to 2017, a dip from 63% to 55% is seen in the daily calorie consumption of grains. People are increasing their protein consumption from 55.3 g in 2000-02 to 63 g in 2015-17, fruits and vegetables, and superfoods such as green tea and olive oil.

Mindful Wellness:

Elevated focus on leading a healthy lifestyle along with preventive healthcare has led to the adoption of nutritional supplements like nutraceuticals and healthy foods. Staple grains like wheat and rice are substituted by Nutri-cereals like millets. There is a constant focus on food fortification for the enhancement of nutritional value.

Mindful Sourcing:

How the food is produced, packed, processed, delivered, and how safe it is to consume are the common concerns the informed consumers, as a result, higher consumption of organic food, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of 21% to reach INR 182 billion by 2026 from INR 60 billion currently. People prefer food traceability, leading to companies introducing such solutions. Clean labels are an emerging trend.

Mindful Preferences:

People prefer food items appealing to their local tastes. This gave an emergence of strong regional brands. Within a state too, the consumers across regions prefer variety and brands need to be aware when they plan their product mix. Still, national brands are focusing upon providing variants suited to regional cuisine preferences.

Mindful Purchase:

Elevation in customer buying packaged staples rather than loose supplies. This was accelerated with the onset of the Covid pandemic when people became more mindful about the safety of their food. Also, private label brands of leading retailers are witnessing increased traction.Mindful Convenience: Steady growth in ready-to-eat and frozen food categories. Be it online grocery or prepared food, food delivery is growing significantly with multiple established companies and start-ups operating in this sector – 28% CAGR for online food delivery for 2020-25, 53% CAGR for online grocery for 2020-25.

Unwrap a new gadget over the holidays

tech tips and tricks to Unwrap new gadget
tech tips and tricks to Unwrap new gadget

Try out these 6 tech tips, tricks –

Can’t figure out how to use your new tech toy? You’re not alone.

While you may have found a new phone, smart speaker, tablet or laptop under the tree this holiday season, you might be a little overwhelmed with all its features.

In fact, whether you’re tech-savvy or tech-shy, many of us stick to what we know and repeat those actions over and over, opposed to venturing a little outside our comfort zone.

That’s ok, of course, but should you want to learn a few tech tips and tricks – to help save you time, money and stress – we’ve got a half-dozen of ideas here for you, covering a wide range of popular products.

Shake to delete

Typing on your iPhone and want to undo what you just wrote? Just shake the darn thing.

Yep, enabled by default, you can quickly fix mistakes by shaking your iPhone side to side – and you’ll see a prompt to confirm you want to undo your action. It’s faster and easier than pressing and holding the backspace key until all of your text is deleted.

If you don’t like this “Shake to Undo” feature, you can turn it off by going to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Shake to Undo.

Multitask on an iPad

Multitasking on an iPad goes above and beyond having a small YouTube video playing in the corner of the screen while you browse the web.

Picture-in-picture is fine, but we’ve been able to do that for years. Apple, however, has added a couple of new ways to access m ore than one app at the same time.

Open an app, such as Mail or Safari and then tap the Multitasking button at the top of the screen, which looks like four little dots.

Now you can select either the Split View button or the Slide Over button. As the name suggests, Split View will split your screen into two windows, to access two apps side by the side, while Slider Over partially slides in, overlaid on your main app (about a third of the size), which you can move to the right or left side of your screen.

Hands-free selfie

Samsung Galaxy owners may not know about this handy way to initiate a selfie on the front-facing camera – and “handy” is the operative word.

Make your iPhone-owning friends jealous with this simple photo tip on Samsung Galaxy devices: when taking a selfie or group shot with the front-facing camera, show your palm to initiate the shutter, hands-free.

Whether you’re by yourself or in a group, if you can’t comfortably reach the touchscreen to initiate the shutter, simply open your hand and show your palm to the camera (no need to wave, unless you want to).

Doing this snaps your picture, hands-free. It’s a convenient and a fun party trick, too, as it may wow your non-Samsung friends.  And yes, you will have a second or so to drop your palm out of the frame before the shutter is activated.

Hidden flight sim

You probably use Google Earth to look at our planet, but there’s also a secret way to fly around it!

As you’ll see in this tweet, those who download the free Google Earth Pro for Windows or Mac can unlock a hidden flight simulation.

Launch the software, press Ctrl + Alt + A (on a PC) or ⌘ + Option + A (on a Mac), then choose the desired aircraft. If you’re a novice, opt f or the Cirrus SR22, while experienced pilots may consider climbing into a F-16. Now select an airport to take off from, via the pull-down menu.

Need some help? Google has published a manual – of sorts – on how to fly the aircraft, reading the HUD (heads-up display), recommended places to visit and more.

Collaboration Apps Creating Productivity Concerns for IT Leaders

Growing use of unified communication and collaboration tools in organizations could hurt productivity in the short term.

Many organisations have expressed concerns over technical challenges of unified communication and collaboration platforms — which includes tools like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Slack, Cisco Webex and Google Meet — may impact productivity within their organizations.

Collaboration-Apps-Creating-Productivity-Concerns-for-IT-Leaders_03
Collaboration App collaboration tools in organizations

An indicator of that could be found at the help desks in those organizations. As the use of UC&C apps increased so has the number of help desk tickets related to the tools. Industry observers say that from 50 to 75 percent of all help desk requests are related to unified communication and collaboration software issues.

Although the issues are cleared up relatively quickly, they still have the potential to reduce productivity. The longer it takes all the members to join a session the more time that’s wasted of the people who were on time and connected.

The study noted that when IT departments deal with issues that most commonly involve device configuration, screen sharing challenges and maintenance or updates. In addition, many organizations frequently get reports of poor video quality, delays, poor audio quality and log in challenges.

Collaboration Apps a Growing Challenge for IT Leaders

Growing Challenges

Employees remain plagued with technical challenges that limit their productivity.

In the rush to collaborate, some companies delivered technology that enabled collaboration without training or the culture needed to support the expected benefits

It is also observed that complexity can be an issue with unified communication and collaboration programs.

A lot of leaders also admit that anything that impairs the quality of calls, videos or collaborative services, they all hit productivity.

When the pandemic started, there were a lot of folks that started using free tools like Google Meet, Zoom and Slack. Some of the tools picked up over the pandemic are going to be consolidated. That will be needed to accommodate changes in the global world of work as the share of knowledge workers working remotely is expected to increase from 27 percent in 2019 to 45 percent in 2022.

Steps to Disable Avast Features on Mac

A lot of studies have been done on this and compelling data indicate that Avast web shields have been used to harvest and sell user data to big corporations. But the good news is that disabling and removing Avast is very easy.

How to Temporarily Disable Avast Features

Avast provides 4 different shields, including File Shield, Behavior Shield (available for Windows PCs only), Web Shield, and Mail Shield. If you’re worried about Avast tracking and selling data on your online activity, you should disable the Web Shield and the Mail Shield at the very least. You may also need to disable the File Shield and the Behavior Shield if Avast is wrongly preventing you from installing or launching a particular file or program (if you’re sure the program is safe).

How to Temporarily Disable Avast Features on Windows

You have the option to disable Avast’s Core Shields permanently, for a set period of time, or until you restart your computer.

To temporarily disable all of the shields at once, move the cursor over the Avast icon on the right-hand side of the taskbar and right-click it. Now, hover your cursor over the “Avast shields control” setting, and click on one of the 3 options for disabling the shields temporarily. These options are:

  • Disable the shield for 10 minutes.
  • Disable for 1 hour.
  • Disable until computer is restarted.

Choose the desired duration that you want the shields to be shut down for, and click on “OK, STOP” when prompted by Avast to confirm the action.

The above method disables all of the Avast shields at once. However, you can also choose to temporarily disable only specific shields. Here’s how:

In your Windows PC, open the Avast user interface and click on “Protection” on the left-hand side of the main menu.

How to Disable Avast Features on Mac

The Mac version of Avast doesn’t allow you to temporarily disable the shields for a set amount of time. This means you can’t choose for the shields to restart automatically after a specified period of time — you can only disable them, and they will remain disabled until you turn them back on. Here’s how to disable Avast’s features for Mac.

From the main menu, click on “Core Shields”.

How to Temporarily Disable Avast Features

Now, click on the toggle button(s) under the shield(s) that you want to disable.

How to Temporarily Disable Avast Features

This disables the shield(s) instantly. You can simply press the toggle buttons again to re-enable any shields.

How to Completely Disable Avast

Avast allows you to completely disable its main features without uninstalling it. This could be useful if Avast’s shields are preventing you from changing certain system settings, installing trustworthy programs, or accessing trusted websites. Disabling Avast also allows you to try out other antivirus programs before you decide to completely remove it from your system.

Here’s how you can completely disable Avast on your Windows or macOS computer:

How to Completely Disable Avast on Windows

To disable Avast completely, simply right-click on the Avast icon on the right of the taskbar, select the “Avast shield controls” option, and choose “Disable permanently” in the drop-down menu. This will open a prompt asking you to confirm the action — and that’s all it takes to disable all of Avast’s protections on your PC.

How to Completely Disable Avast

Avast will then stay disabled until you manually re-enable it. To do this, once again right-click on the Avast icon in the task bar, hover your mouse over “Avast shield controls”, and select the “Enable all shields” option.

How to Completely Disable Avast on Mac

Avast’s Mac app doesn’t allow you to completely disable all shields at once — instead, you have to turn off each feature one by one.

To do this, open the main menu in Avast and click on “Core Shields”.

Now, click the toggle buttons under each shield one by one to disable all of them.

Avast will now be completely disabled, and it will remain so until you re-enable the shields. You can re-enable them by simply clicking on the toggle buttons under each shield again.

How to Fully Remove Avast From Your Device

The uninstallation process for Avast varies slightly for different devices. Note that uninstalling the app doesn’t mean that your Avast subscription is also canceled — you have to cancel the subscription separately. To do that, sign in to your Avast account using your login credentials, locate your subscription details, click “Unsubscribe” under the subscription you want to cancel, and follow on-screen instructions to complete the cancellation.

Balanced Diet – Myths And Facts

Balanced Diet - Myths And Facts
Balanced Diet - Myths And Facts

Balanced diet is essential for proper growth and development, and to remain active. Balanced diet is a wholesome diet which provides adequate proportions of essential nutrients from all food groups (carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water) necessary to maintain good health. It provides adequate intake of both macronutrients and micronutrients, proper regulation of metabolic processes, and maintenance of an optimal body mass.

A Balanced Diet For a Normal Adult Should Provide

Carbohydrates

50-60% of a day’s total calories should come from carbohydrates which equals to 5-6 servings of cereals, preferably coming from complex carbohydrates; whole wheat chapati, brown rice, millets; bajra (pearl millet), ragi (finger millet) jowar (great millet) etc.

➤   Simple sugars like crystalline sugar, sweetened carbonated beverages, preserved fruit juices, and sugar syrups should be avoided

➤   Processed foods high in fat, sugar and salt should be eaten sparingly

➤   It is highly recommended to do regular physical activity and avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.

Tips to achieve balanced diets

✔  Eat variety of foods to ensure a balanced diet.

✔  Include differently coloured, seasonal vegetables and fruits in your diet.

✔  Eat foods made with whole grains like whole wheat bread, millets, and brown rice.

✔   Include low fat dairy products in the diet.

✔   Ensure moderate use of edible oils and animal foods, limit the use of ghee/ butter and avoid Vanaspati/margarine/shortenings.

✔  Limit the consumption of processed grains including foods made with white flour (Maida) etc.

✔   Minimize the use of processed foods rich in fats, sugar and salt (avoid trans fats).

At an age where one is expected to work dedicatedly, we often end up compromising our health. While many people would agree that a good fitness regime helps keep such risks at bay, it may just not be good enough. Choosing and following a good and healthy diet should also be taken into account. Irrespective of how hectic one’s life is, we can minimize the risks by selecting the right food.

But is choosing the right food enough? The answer is a resounding no. Along with the right food, we must also learn good eating habits. While there are no set guidelines to follow, here are a few do’s and don’ts that form a part of healthy food habits.

1. See what you are eating

Observe your present diet. What is it you eat more? Are you consuming too many calories in your diet and don’t have enough time to burn them? Then you should probably consider eating something that is less fattening and easy for your body to digest. A couple of minutes spent doing basic yoga postures will also help you burn those extra calories.

Protip: Plan healthy meals in advance and ensure that you have the ingredients at home. It will be easier and faster to cook.

2. Choose green leafy vegetables

Add green leafy vegetables to your diet. They are a rich source of proteins, iron, calcium, and fiber. Green leafy vegetables are easy to prepare and quite appetizing too.

Protip: Try to include as many colors as you can on your plate for each meal. It would be ideal if you could include all the six different types of tastes (sweet, salty, sour, bitter, pungent, astringent) at least once a day.

3. Know when to drink water

The body receives a significant amount of minerals through water. Drinking plenty of water also helps detoxify the body and gives you a  glowing skin. However, avoid drinking water during meals as it slows down the digestion process. It is advisable to have water 30 minutes before or after your meal. Yes, learning to drink water correctly forms a strong base for good eating habits.

Protip: Drink a glass of water right after getting up in the morning, and before brushing your pearly whites. Morning saliva is considered extremely beneficial for digestion. Drinking water in the morning (known as ushapana in Ayurveda) helps in flushing out toxins from the system, cleansing the intestines and ridding the body of diseases.

4. Include enough proteins in your diet

Proteins are vital for the body and should definitely be included in the diet. Broccoli, soybeans, lentils, asparagus, and spinach are some protein-rich foods. Low-fat dairy products are also a rich source of proteins. Ensure that your body receives the required amount of proteins daily.

Protip: Approximately 25 percent of your meal should be good proteins. If you’re regular with active exercise, then the amount could be increased by five percent.

5. Chew your food

Have you seen a cow chew its food? Its at least 40-60 times.

One of the easiest and obvious ways to digest food is to  chew it. Most people often eat their food in a hurry and skip chewing their food properly. While what you eat eventually gets digested, but a barely chewed morsel takes more time and tires your digestive system. Besides, the more you chew your food, the easier it becomes for your stomach to digest it and the more calories you burn moving your jaw. Small steps like learning to chew correctly go a long way in forming a healthy food habit.

Protip: Chew 32-40 times so that the food becomes a paste and is ready for the stomach to do its digestive magic. Sip water and other liquids, roll it around in your mouth and then swallow. This activates saliva, which contains digestive juices.

6. Keep away from fast food and soft drinks

Although it may appease your taste buds, fast food usually does a lot of harm to the body. It can be unhygienic and also high on harmful fats like trans-fats. Also, carbonated soft drinks have a high sugar content which will lead to obesity, diabetes, and dental caries. Instead of these harmful drinks, refresh yourself with a glass of buttermilk or lemonade.

Protip: Infuse slices of fruits like oranges, or grapes, lemons, and herbs like tulsi or mint in water for a few hours and then drink it. Lemon and cucumber also help to make the water alkaline, which is good for the body. You will love these alternatives to soft drinks. Good eating habits have never been so easy.

7. Cook at home

Instead of ordering pizza from the joint around the corner, use your kitchen and make that dish you’ve been planning on having. Cooking at home is a very good investment as it lets you spend more quality time with your family. It’s a great way of ensuring that everyone in the family follows healthy food habits. Also, it’s a very good idea to sit cross-legged on the floor or a chair while eating. Try it!

Protip: Sukhasana makes it easier to sit with a straight back as opposed to slouching on a chair, or sinking into a sofa. A slouch will also bend and twist the abdominal areas while a straight back helps the stomach. This will help the digestion of food. A good posture also reduces excessive strain on muscles and joints

8. Focus on your food

Most of us have our food while texting or watching television and don’t really keep a count of how much we end up eating. Though your stomach might be full, your brain tells you to eat more, and you eventually end up overeating. If you focus only on your food then you’ll eat only as much as your body requires. So, the next time you sit down for your meal, keep the remote control and mobile phone away for some time.

Protip: It’s best to reserve 20-30 minutes for your meal time. Don’t eat in a hurry (you will overeat!). Use your meals as a time to relax, rejuvenate and celebrate life.

9. Never skip your breakfast

Breakfast is perhaps the most important meal of the day as the body prepares itself for the whole day ahead. Make sure you eat a wholesome and rich breakfast before you step out of the house.

Protip: Maintain regular meal timings. The stomach will get trained to secrete acid at those times, leading to better digestion. Failure to maintain those timings will make the stomach feel confused.

10. Boost your digestion

While knowing what to eat and how much to eat is important, it always helps if you can boost the process of digestion. Sitting in Vajrasna (adamantine pose) for a few minutes after having food helps you there. This yogic posture enhances blood circulation in the lower abdomen and improves the digestive process.

Protip: Consume pre- and probiotic supplements (after consulting with a food expert). A prebiotic creates a good environment for the good bacteria in the stomach. You can add many more of the good bacteria with the regular consumption of a probiotic.
