With limited time at our hands and corporate tasks on the mind, cooking a sumptuous meal seems a big task. Here are some On the Go meals that require less time and are delicious.
On The Go Meals that anyone can make
With over 28 states, 8 union territories, and over 1652 languages the culture couldn’t be more diverse. Although our constitution mentions 22 major languages as main and are hereby mentioned in the eighth schedule of the constitution. Also, India has the second largest population in the world. With these many individuals it is but obvious that disparity in culture shall exist. Indian cuisine has evolved over time. From Vedic times to the current times there has been massive changes. With industrialization our lives bettered, and economy boomed. With increased employment opportunities, time-at-hand diminished. So here are some On the Go meals that are not only delicious but easy to cook.
Consequently, everyone started looking for short cuts to save time. A busy schedule triggered the need of easy to cook meals. It is no surprise that instant noodles and ready to eat cereals became an instant hit. However, these meals can’t be had on a daily basis for the reason that they have chemical preservatives. Afterall there is no comparison for fresh food. For convenience I have also divided these so-called convenience meals according to the time, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Meals for Breakfast
For an office goer there is always shortage of time. And if there is no support as could be the case with some working ladies, breakfast is often missed. Either they skip the most vital meal of the day or grab something on the way. Either way it proves to be harmful. Here are the recipes, some of which you might be familiar.
Poha or Spiced Flaked Rice
This spicy and little tangy breakfast meal is made in just few minutes. Also, it requires very few ingredients. Even if one doesn’t have cut vegetables it uses just a few ingredients. All one requires is Oil, mustard seeds, turmeric, curry leaves and Onion. Wash the Poha under running water like rice to remove the excessive starch and leave it for some time to puff up. In a separate frying pan put in a teaspoon of oil and add all the ingredients. Saute the onion until translucent and add the puffed rice. Sprinkle some water on the top and cover the lid. After a few minutes switch off the heat. Garnish it with coriander and a dash of lemon and your delicious breakfast meal is ready. Here is Chef Kunal’s recipe
Achari Aaloo or Tangy Pickled Potato
In the event you are running short on time, Achari Aaloo is one of the best On the go meals. You can relish these potatoes with Chapatis, Parathas (fried Indian flatbread), Naan (Leavened flatbread) and even with rice. All one requires is boiled potatoes, onions, spices and a lemon. Although recipe could vary, but it involves sauteing onions and as soon as it becomes translucent, add fennel, coriander, and fenugreek seeds. Add the potatoes and spices and cook until done. Sprinkle some lemon and garnish with coriander leaves. The dish goes great with Pooris. Rotis, Naans and even rice. The dish hardly takes 15-20 minutes. Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese) Masala
It is a delight for vegetarians. Made with Indian cottage cheese paneer, the popular curry consists of Onions and Tomato gravy slowly cooked with Indian spices and condiments. Some of the spices include Bayleaf, Clove, mace, cardamom, and cinnamon. These are ground into fine powder and cooked with the gravy. Some of the other meals that require very less time are Lemon rice, Tomato rice and Lentils. Let’s face it, who does not like delicious Indian food containing a blend of spices. However, most often we consider Indian food as time consuming. However, there are these simple recipes that are not only delicious but are also cooked in no time.
