Covid Cases in India log down to below 10000 Cases for the first time

India’s daily Covid cases slow down and the tally stayed below the 10,000-mark for the first time in six days. Only 10,000 fresh cases were logged in the last 24 hours, against 12,781 cases on Monday, according to the Health Ministry’s latest bulletin. Last Wednesday the daily addition in cases stood at 8,822. The number of active cases also went up by 2,613 to near the 80,000 mark. Active cases in India – 79,313 – now account for over 0.18 percent of the total confirmed cases.

Although the Covid Cases slow down, new deaths were reported on Tuesday

As per the Health Ministry data, 17 new Covid-linked deaths were also reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of lives lost since the beginning of the pandemic to 5,24,890. There have been 7,624 recoveries in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate stands at 2.35 percent while the weekly positivity rate is at 2.38 percent. The national recovery rate was 98.65 percent. The cumulative Covid vaccine doses administered across India have exceeded 195.67 cr.

Covid Cases show spike in certain Mumbai regions although overall Covid cases slow down

Maharashtra’s Thane district has added 852 new cases of coronavirus, raising its infection count to 7, 16,157, an official said on Thursday. On Tuesday, the district had recorded 607 new infections. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday said the spike in cases was restricted to certain districts in the state. Covid Cases slow down overall, however, the rise is seen in regions of Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Palghar, and Raigad districts. Despite the run-up in cases, the percentage of hospitalization is 2 to 3 percent. There was no fresh fatality and the death toll in the Thane district stood at 11,896, and the COVID-19 mortality rate at 1.67 percent, the official said.

Covid Cases slow down, but 2 cases of BA.5 variants reported

On Tuesday, Maharashtra reported two cases of the BA.5 variant of coronavirus. Both the patients, found in Thane city, were vaccinated. The state Health Department on Wednesday said four new cases of B.A.5 variant of coronavirus were detected in the state from Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Pune. All four patients, who were in the age group of 19 to 36 years, tested positive for coronavirus between May 26 and June 9, and their condition was stable.
