A proud moment came for India at the Grammy Awars 2023, when Bengaluru-Based composer, Ricky Kej won his third Grammy Award. He shared the award for album ‘Divine Tides’ with rock-legend Stewart Copeland.
Indian music composer and producer Ricky Kej won Grammy for ‘Divine Tides’. He had fetched a nomination in the Best Immersive Audio Album category. This song was Kej’s collaborative project with Copeland and they bagged another Grammy for Best New Age Album in 2022. Besides the above, the composer also won for 2015 album, ‘Winds of Samsara.’ Song featured artists from around the world and ‘Divine Tides’ is a tribute to the magnificence of our natural world. Album comprises 9 songs and 8 music videos filmed around the world from the exquisite beauty of the Indian Himalayas to the icy forests of Spain.
After Ricky Kej won Grammy, he called his music cross-cultural with Indian roots
Ricky Kej did not fail to give credit to the country he belonged. He acknowledged that it was an honour to receive a second time nomination for ‘Divine Tides’. Additionally, he referred to his music as cross-cultural, but having strong Indian roots. Composer further added of feeling proud that the recording Academy has finally recognized and shortlisted the Indian music. Ricky is the youngest person from India to have won a Grammy Award, and only the 4th Indian. Meanwhile, Stewart Copeland is a 5-time Grammy Award-winning American musician and composer. He is the founder and drummer of the British rock group ‘The Police’ who have sold over 75 million albums worldwide.
