Amit Kumar reacts to his father, Kishore Kumar’s marriages with Ruma Ghosh, Madhubala, Yogeeta Bali, and Leena Chandavarkar

Amit Kumar has a legendary legacy that he shares the lineage of the legendary Actor, Singer, and composer Kishore Kumar. Just like his late father, he is an indisputable singer having been a part of more than 150 Hindi and Bengali Songs. From the ever Peppy Sridevi Number ‘ Na Jane Kahan Se Aayi Hai’ to the songs for Raju Chacha, Apna Sapna Money Money (2006), Khandahar(2010), Dulha Mil Gaya, Himmatwala (2013), and Club Dancer. So far the singer has won 5 Filmfare awards as Best Male Singer. In a recent interview, he opened up on Kishore Kumar’s 4 marriages. Talking to the host he revealed that he never discussed his father’s four wives for he respected his father’s decision as a private matter.

First Kishore Kumar’s 4 marriages was with Ruma Guha Thakurta aka Ruma Ghosh

Kishore Kumar first married the Bengali singer-actor, Ruma Guha Thakurta aka Ruma Ghosh. With the marriage lasting for eight years and finally ended in Divorce. Ruma also happens to be Amit Kumar’s mother. Subsequently Kishore Kumar fell for Madhubala while the Divorce proceedings were still going on. Kishore and Madhubala had a civil wedding in 1960 and the marriage ended with Madhubala’s demise on February 23, 1969. After the demise of Madhubala, the actor married Yogeeta Bali in 1976 which merely lasted for two years. Finally the singer tied the knot with Bollywood actress Leena Chandavarkar in 1980 and together, they have a son, Sumit Kumar.

Amit Kumar’s responds to his relationship with stepmother

When asked about the relationship with his stepmother Leena, he mentioned that they have a great bond. He added that she doesn’t act anymore. However, she writes amazingly and has written his songs. He also sang one of Leena’s written songs having the following lyrics ‘ Tinka hoon main aur yeh Jahan Hai Sagar, Dubaya Gaya Phir Bhi dooba nahin hoon.”
