After its blockbuster run in India, Rajamouli’s epic movie ‘RRR’ is shattering records at the box office.
S.S. Rajamouli directed movie continues to break record after creating an impressive run worldwide. The movie accumulated $145 million, including $14.5 million in North America. The movie released on October 21. Recently, Rajamouli, NTR Jr and Ram Charan visited Japan on a promotional tour for the film. They received a rapturous response upon their arrival. So far, the ‘RRR’ has been released in in 209 screens and 31 Imax screens across 44 cities and prefectures in Japan. And for the unversed, the screening is the widest for any Indian movie in the East Asian Nation. SS Rajmoulli’s RRR shattered Existing record for any Foreign Film release.
RRR shatters existing record, features in the top 10
S.S. Rajmoulli’s movie collected JPY73 million ($495,000), making it the highest first week collections for an Indian film in Japan. The movie ‘RRR’ opened at No. 10 and is the top-rated foreign film. The other nine movies are all local Japanese productions. RRR still maintained the record for the highest-grossing foreign film of the week. It was placed ahead of ‘The Bad Guys’, ‘Spencer’ and ‘Jurassic World Dominion’. The way the movie is running, it is expected to make profits within 10 days. Till now ‘Muthu’, starring Rajinikanth, remains the highest-grossing Indian film of all time in Japan with a box-office collection of JPY400 million. The movie price of the ticket is JPY1,900.

S.S. Rajamouli visits Japan with cast Ram Charan and NTR Jr.
The movie cast Ram Charan and NTR Jr recently visited Japan. For the unversed, RRR is a fictional story set in the 1920s pre-independent era, based on the lives of two real heroes and well-known revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. While Ram Charan played Ram, Tarak was seen as Bheem. The movie got a thunderous applause from the audience. One can imagine from the popularity from the fact that 932 seats in the theatre were sold out in 20 minutes. From the single show, the film minted $21,000, taking its cumulative box-office earnings from re-release to $221,156.
