While Mahesh held on to traditional views, Namrata’s modelling career led her to victory in Miss India Pageant. Namrata went on to win Miss India Universe and then participate in the Miss Universe Contest. After the contest she made her debut in Bollywood movie starring Salman Khan and Twinkle Khanna in 1998. On the other hand Mahesh too was getting on in his field. Subsequently the actress signed her first Telugu movie Vamsi, where the nature was conspiring in order to get the two together. Vamsi was Mahesh’s first movie and it set the stage for them to be in a life-long partnership.

From the first meeting in 2000 during a movie’s mahurat to culmination into their wedding, the couple had it secret. Both were smitten from the first day and by the end had fallen for each other. Despite being four years elder, Mahesh Namrata love story never had any hitch. Moreover the best part was that the couple were able to keep it away from the media’s glare for a long time. So much was Mahesh secretive, he didn’t tell his parents about the same. However he opened up to his sister. All this was done to avoid coming under the scanner of the paparazzi. Fans rejoiced when the couple revealed the news to them. This was in 2004 and 2005 saw the union of Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar. On February 10th of 2005, Mahesh and Namrata became one in the presence of family and friends. The marriage vows were taken according to Telugu customs and traditions. Tirupati Pandits performed the Pooja and Mantras in Telugu language. Just like a Telugu couple, both wore traditional wedding attires. While Namrata wore a white silk saree with a green border and green glass bangles. Mahesh Babu wore a white silk dhoti and kurta. After wedding Namrata stopped working for Mahesh always wished for a wife who would look after kids and family. Post marriage, the couple’s first kid, a boy named Gautham Krishna was born in the year 2006. Six year later the couple welcomed baby girl, Sitara Ghattamaneni and completed their family.
