Karan Johar has received a lot of brickbats in the Bollywood for promoting only star kids. It seems that he doesn’t give two hoots to his critics who blame him for extending favors to those who are a part of his coterie. He has shared the poster of his next film ‘Bedhadak’ that has stars like Shanaya Kapoor, Lakshya and Gurfateh Pirzada.
Shanaya is the daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor. She has been preparing for her debut as an actor in Bollywood for quite sometime now. She was the assistant director of her cousin Janhvi Kapoor’s movie Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.
In her poster, Shanaya is seen in a pink and grey top with her face covered in wind-swept hair. She is introduced as Nimrit in the movie. Introducing her, Karan’s twitter post read “Introducing the gorgeous @shanayakapoor as Nimrit in #Bedhadak. An enchanting force to look out for, I can’t wait to see the energy she brings onto the screen!”
The film will be directed by Shashank Khaitan. Two other actors Lakshya and Gurfateh Pirzada are also making debuts with this film. Lakshya will play the role of Karan in the movie. He was earlier supposed to act in Dostana 2 which has now been shelved. The actor has played the lead role in Porus. He was also seen in the TV show Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil. In addition to this, Lakshya was a part of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya and Adhuri Kahaani Hamari.
The third new entry, Gurfateh will play Angad in the movie. Gurfateh is the brother of South actress Mehreen Pirzada. Karan has earlier introduced him as suave and bold with a gaze that will leave the audience spellbound.
The actor was seen in Guilty with Kiara Advani and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor. He has also been a part of director Amit Khanna’s Friends In Law and Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele.
Karan Johar is unapologetic about his choices as far as new talent in concerned. Despite the intense criticism that he had faced for promoting star kids, the director has yet again decided to go ahead with something that he feels is right for him and his business.
