She virtually rules the space and changes the outlook of the movie. Needless to say, Kangana’s transformation as PM was spot on with spectacles and starched cotton saree. In 2021, she had made the character of the late Chief Minister of Jayalalitha alive through her movie Thalaivi, where she played the minister.
Her acting received her rave reviews from both critics and audience alike. After the success of the movie, she is again embracing the role of another powerful Indian icon, Iron Lady of India and former prime minister Late Mrs Indira Gandhi. Kangana shared the first teaser of the movie Emergency, in which she plays the role of the prime minister.

Kangana Rannaut has left no stone unturned as she dives into the skin of the character of the former Prime Minister Mrs Indira Gandhi. Sharing the teaser of the movie ‘ Emergency’ , she takes charge in and as the PM who ordered what is referred to as the darkest hour of Indian Democracy. Although Kangana transformation as PM has had its share of challenges.
Here is a video which shows Kangana as former PM receiving former secretary of state Henry Kissinger, asking if the then American President Richard Nixon can refer her as ‘Ma’am’ instead of the usual sir. Just taking a little offence, she agrees, later reverts to his secretary to let the president in the office know that his office staff should call her as ‘Sir.’ Sharing the clip from Emergency, the caption read, “Presenting ‘Her’ who was called ‘Sir’ #Emergency shoot begins.” Oscar winner David Malinowski has done Kangana’s tranformation, who is credited with some of the Hollywood’s best movies such as Darkest Hour (2017), World War Z (2013) and The Batman (2022).

Emergency was one of the gravest times of Indian History till date. Often viewed as the power exploitation, Kangana revealed it is tough to portray a public figure on the screen. The actress revealed the challenges in getting the character right , and revealed that she spent significant time in researching the topic. Only when she thought she had enough material , she agreed to do the movie. She even shared a newspaper clipping from the year 1975, depicting the events of the emergency and its consequences

Kangana’s transformation as PM is remarkable, and the actor is overjoyed to work as a director. Ritesh Shah wrote the movie and as the movie is shot, the actress expressed her overexcitement into the movie. She even said that she can forgo her other assignments.
