Port Blair is the capital city of Andaman and Nicobar Islands union territory of India in the Bay of Bengal. It has a historical town which was captured by the Japanese during World War II.

The town has huge variety of tourist attractions such as museums, flora and fauna and a diverse marine life which no other town offers in India. It is also a home to a major naval base INS Jarawa of the Indian Navy, along with sea and air bases of the Indian Coast Guard, Andaman and Nicobar Police, Andaman and Nicobar Command, the first integrated tri-command of the Indian Armed Forces and the Indian Air Force.

While in the town, you should take a stroll at the Marina Park to enjoy the sweet Sea Breeze. Walk past the Japanese Bunkers, indulge in Water Sports, discover the island’s High Peaks, and get familiarized with the land’s Rich Culture and Diversity.

Port Blair is also famous for the historic Cellular Jail and other small islands like Corbyn’s Cove, Wandoor, Ross Island, Viper Island, which were once home to British colonists.

Port Blair has a tropical monsoon climate, with little variation in average temperature and large amounts of precipitation throughout the year. All months except January, February and March receive substantial rainfall.

How to reach

Port Blair is home to the only Commercial Airport of the Islands – The Veer Savarkar International Airport. Direct flights to and from Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, and Bangalore are available

Port Blair can be reached in two ways:

By Air

Flights are certainly faster which takes about 2.5 – 3 hours to reach mainland India from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and many other major towns in India.

By Sea

A journey on the ship from Kolkata is also recommend for an unusual adventure.
