Korean Open 2022 came with mixed news for the top Indian Shuttlers. While, PV Sindhu, Kadambi Srikanth progressed to the quarterfinals, Lakshya Sen and Malvika Bansood exited in straight games.
PV Sindhu and Srikanth continue their dominant run at the Open
Sindhu, a two time olympic medalist ousted the 26th seed Aya Ohori in straight sets 21-15 21-10.Later World Championship runners-up Srikant got the better off Israel’s Misha Zilberman 21-18 21-6 .Srikant shall clash with the local favorite and former World No 1 Son Wan Ho.PV Sindhu shall clash with Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan. Earlier,she had defeated her in the final of the Swiss Open last month. Neverthless,the match between Sindhu and the Japanese was dominated by the Indian.
India’s doubles duo Medalists Chirag and Readdy advanced to the quarterfinals in a straight sets victory over their Singapore opponents. They defeated Hee Yong Kai Terry and Loh Kean Hean 21-15 21-19 in 36 minutes .
Lakshaya and Malvika Bansod lose in the Korean Open 2022
Lakshaya Sen and Malvika Bansod dream run at the Korean Open came to a halt yesterday.The ninth seed Lakshaya went down to world number 24 Shesar Hiren Rhustavito 20-22 9-21 in 33 minutes.Malvika Bansod, country’s rising shuttler also failed to reach the last 8. She lost to Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong 8-21 14-21 in a second round.Mainly one-sided, the match lasted for only 39 minutes.

Korean Open 2022: The duo of Reddy-Ponappa and Arjun-Kapila also failed to advance.
The mixed doubles pair of Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa could not reach the quarterfinals. They put up a brave fight before going down 20-22 21-18 14-21 to the fifth seed Chinese combine of Ou Xuan Yi and Huang Ya Qiong. However, India’s Men’s doubles MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila, retired while lagging 5-8 in the first game against the second-seeded Indonesian pair of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan.
