Google Honours Children’s Day With Special Doodle Celebrating India’s Scientific Advancements

Shlok Mukherjee’s winning doodle honours the future India’s Vision in the next 25 years. Google shall display the Doodle the whole day.

Tech-giant Google flagged off ‘Children’s Day’ celebrations for India as it announced the winners of Doodle for Google competition. West Bengal’s Shlok Mukherjee bagged the top spot in the contest which had over 115,000 entries from more than 100 Indian cities for the children of classes 1-10. Shlok’s doodle – titled ‘India on the centre stage’ – showcases his vision for India’s scientific advancements in various areas in the years to come. Also, listed in the received entries related to advancements in the areas of technology and sustainability emerge as common themes across many of the Doodles. It was an overwhelming moment as this year Google Honours Children’s Day with a special doodle.

Dedicated to the vision of Future India, the search Engine’s Google honours Children Day

As per the search Engine itself, the contest had received more than 1.15 Lakh entries. The contest was open to children from the classes 1 to 10 all over India. Students from more than 100 cities across India participated in the contest. Meant to trigger a student’s imagination and creativity, the theme this year, “In the next 25 years, my India will….”As expected, the response was amazing and even Google acknowledged the same. Needless to say, the creativity and craze of technology of the students amazed Google.

Google celebrates Children’s Day with a special Doodle

This year’s Doodle for Google judging panel included actor, filmmaker, producer, and TV personality Neena Gupta; Editor-in-Chief at Tinkle Comics, Kuriakose Vaisian, YouTube Creators Slayypoint; and, artist and entrepreneur Alika Bhat, and the Google Doodle team. Panel chose 20 finalists from the entries, who then were evaluated on the basis of artistic merit, creativity, alignment with the contest theme, and uniqueness and novelty of approach. Shlok Mukherjee of DPS, Kolkata won the contest

“In the next 25 years, my India will have scientists develop their own eco-friendly robot for humanity’s betterment. India will have regular intergalactic travels from Earth to space. India will develop more in the field of Yoga and Ayurveda, and will get stronger in coming years.”

Judges and Public votes decide winner, as Doodle Honours Children’s Day

Criteria of selection included artistic merit, creativity, alignment with the contest theme, and uniqueness and novelty of the approach. Moreover, 5 lakh public votes helped determine the results in which four group winners were also declared in addition to a national winner.
