Mani Ratnam’s epic drama still continues to run strong at the box office. It overtook Kamal Hassan’s Vikram to become the top grossing movie in Tamil Cinema.
2022 turned out as a promising year for the Tamil Movie Industry. Some of the stalwarts of the cinema not only made a comeback but delivered massive hits. Firstly, it was Kamal Hassan’s Viram who set the tune for the hits. Kamal Hassan’s Vikram hit the box office with Vikram. The movie was a resounding success as it collected Rs 423 at the global box office. Hardly had the wave of Viram subsided, Mani Ratnam’s passion took over the public. His epic drama PS-1 Box Office Collection has continued to rise. The movie continues to break records both in the domestic as well as overseas market. It even surpassed the analysts’ expectations.

Beating Kamal Hassan’s Vikram, PS-1 Box Office Collection turns epic
Mani Ratnam’s epic overtakes Kamal Haasan’s Vikram to emerge as the top grossing movie in the Tamil film industry. Also, PS-1 box office collection in the US market at Rs 50 crores is a new record. Also, the movie the still running strong in Malayasia and Singapore. A noted Movie analyst wrote the following.

PS-1 beats Vikram to become the top grosser in Tamil Nadu
PS-1 Box Office Collection expected to touch Rs 450 Cr
The pace at which the movie’s collections are going, it is soon likely to touch the 450 Cr mark. The movie stars Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles. Kalki Krishnamoorthy’s fictional book series is the basis of Ponniyin Selvan 1. The movie is a fictitious account of the ascent of Arulmozhi Varman aka Raja Raja Cholan. He was a king of the Chola empire. AR Rahman gave the music for the film. Mani Ratnam also revealed that the second part of the movie is also shot and shall hit the theatres in 6-7 months.
