Twitter will soon let you share posts only with a group of close friends – a feature that the netizens were asking for a long time. It is going to be similar to Instagram’s Close Friends feature. In others words, you’ll be limiting your tweets to your “Flock.”
Twitter first gave us a glimpse of the feature last July, which was called “Trusted Friends” at the time.
Twitter will show an option to select its intended audience, before you hit the send button. It has similarities with Communities, a feature Twitter launched last year that lets people share discussions on a specific topic.
Flock shouldn’t be confused with “Fleets,” the ephemeral tweet option that was designed to compete with Instagram Stories, Facebook Stories, Snapchat, and more. Fleets never caught on with Twitter users and the company canned the feature in August, less than a year after the feature launched.
If you’re in someone’s Flock and they send out a tweet, a label may appear beneath that tweet, reading: “You can see this Tweet because the author has added you to their Flock.”
Flock is still in the beta stage and there is no confirmation yet on when it will finally be launched.
